Still seems double-borked. Artisan roll only produces unremarkable unless I'm just super unlucky, and also still leaves the generic object behind.

Re: The best and worst of crafts
Artisan rolls are wonderful--having just that much more to differentiate each item and each crafter is neat. Put them on every object. Clothing! Food! _Everything_ deserves artisan rolls. Not enough objects/crafts let you decorate. This is a technical/objective thing, and I know you were hoping for ...

Re: RPA presence, pbase activity
This is probably a deeper discussion on what is "within reason." I don't disagree that there are many definitions of fun and I love to see what people come up with. But some times being an admin (particularly an Elder Staff) is to make decisions on what is "within reason." Sometimes there are disag...

Re: RPP Proposal
The general idea is that the RPP cost is sort of high in order to prevent 'untrustworthy sorts' from abusing the privilege. Won't naysay the concerns, but rather, I think the benefits outweigh them. 1. a populated sphere with anchor pcs that keep new players that roll in satisfied that they are not...

Re: RPP Proposal
RE: adjusting RPP costs, I'd prefer it be upfront/public. Staff looking for Arnorian Dunadan, make an announcement, etc. They're 3RPP until the position is filled. Let people(even ones with characters, maybe?) apply, then retire if they get accepted.
If it's not, oh well.

Re: RPP Proposal
"Equal playing field" doesn't really fit Tolkien, but this RPP proposal is as close as it gets in the Third Age. Mostly, though, Melkor--scratch that!--Morgoth's proposal is one that only fits certain concept, particularly freshly-employed, young people.

Re: Refilling lanterns
refill empty-lantern General craft. Requires candles of some sort! There's apparently oil lanterns, as the one referenced here isn't usable in that craft. It's oil--not sure how to refill those, but I feel like the lantern craft used to be for oil lanterns, and his might be a legacy item left-over.

What craft opens up the bonecraft skill? Also watch craft set is it in. Thank you in advance. http://www.middle-earth.us/index.php/info/crafts/ Should answer all your questions. To help with readability, 1=yes, 0=no for "opening." Skills open crafts more than crafts open skills, though, and I'm not...

Re: More armor variation per tier + mail armor refurbishing
When you talk about it partially covers the neck... no. The code does not allow that. It is covers or doesn't. Code is boolean. Bonuses and so on are separate and unrelated to this. We're not talking about "taking anything away" I am talking about the description, coverage, and material. Nothing mo...

Re: Woodcrafting Craft Timers
Normally the problem to "I fail every check I try" is "do checks at my level." Are there not tiers of/useful woodcraft skills at every level? Woodcraft is already the easiest/best of the craftsuites, really only requiring one skill to make money with. With all the troubles you're having, I'm quite ...

Re: When is it legal to sell items for coin?
Not Staff, but... (a) what they are, and probably in flux (b) how my PC is supposed to ICly tell the difference between an authorized and an unauthorized buyer, if indeed there is something special that differentiates these NPC stall-keepers from, for example, PC ones. If someone(read: all of the NP...

Hey! I'm going to try to get something going once a week for combatants and/or outdoorsy characters in Utterby. Anyone else who wants to participate is welcome as well. Numbers and IC circumstances will dictate what we do! The first of these will be this Thursday, 8-31-17, at 6:00 pm (UTC - 6 or fo...

Re: RPP Proposal
I have only considered it in passing. RPP restricted races have stat boosts already, I'm not sure what they are exactly at the moment. Probably should have a clear plan for RPP races/their boosts before any plan for further RPP boosts is even on the table. But at first blush I'd say we'd want to al...

Re: RPP Proposal
RPP as currency is great. Ideally, RPP races start having cleanly-defined boosts(very small ones--+1 dex +1 wil +1 con for Dwarves, for example, at 3RPP), and 0RPP races can buy boosts to almost equal those(no more than 2, as it says). The clan stuff is all about locked doors, and dividing the Pbase...

Re: RPP Proposal
I agree here. It would be better if it were a set amount per RPP spent, but I do think it should be a generous amount. I was always bothered by RPP roles like "Veteran Soldier of the Eastern Front" (or whatever) coming in and immediately being trounced by green soldiers, or a Master Wheelmaker (or ...

Once it is settled if this will be implemented, will there be another instance to discuss or suggest the list of perks or that's what we should be doing now? That's what you should be doing now. I'm considering the possibility of allowing you to spend rpp on a new character to recoup some of the sk...

Re: RPP Proposal
I'd also dig if skill-maxes were determined by how they used to be, via the main stats for them. Intelligence is great for overall cap on skill points, experience or whatever.. But it's ridiculous if you want to make a master woodworker, get the stats listed for it, drop int to a lower priority, an...
