Re: Utterby Life - Signs! & Other Things

Honestly, I would say just add signpost items and crafts to make them whilst relying upon the existing omote system. Omote is awesome. This might also serve well to confused newbies, as signs would offer on-the-server guidance. Plus, I hate having to pull up the Utterby map on the forums. I apprecia...

An old friend of mine graciously drew this for me, but I doubt that they want to be named.

You find time to do what you want to do. :)
I'm not even going to bother explaining how that is logically redundant.

Re: How Do We Do This Thing?

Not to goad, because I'm not, but I just don't understand how needing good PR negates the validity of my suggestions. I am actually offended by this. Not because you're disagreeing with me, but because you - of all people - don't think that you're going to goad me anyway. After all this time and al...

Re: How Do We Do This Thing?

To me, success is providing a place for people to chase their in-game dreams and making it an even playing field. Success is seeing that single player pour their heart into their character and then stand up bravely against an enemy, making the ultimate sacrifice, even though they are losing so much...

Re: How Do We Do This Thing?

I think the elephant in the room is that MUDs in general are the last of an ancient breed. We can talk about administrative reconstruction and gameplay changes all we want, but unless something is done to draw interest it's pointless. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's, MUDs were popular and the...

Re: Shadow of Mordor

This is pretty ignorant of how quick and short a lot of fps games were, and various action games as well. Often the only difference in total content for a lot of these games was skill and artificial difficulty. Games of the action variety aren't shorter in a lot of ways, especially considering the ...

Re: Character Depth

1. How do you find depth with your character? By making it. In my opinion, the best players craft their characters by developing a rich background and a tangible thought process for their character. You start with that and then always keep modifying the existing base. This means knowing how your ch...

Re: Shadow of Mordor

My friends beat it and near 100-percented it in under 20 hours. Would not buy. Since when is 20 hours a bad amount of time for a triple A game? Post 2005 I think, before then they came finished and did not often require a season pass or day 1 DLC. Pretty much this. If we're talking about a game tha...

Re: Stellar RP and RPP

You want to be a skipping stone, making a myriad of ripples along the way. The excellence of your roleplay is less about your writing and volume, or the accolades you obtain, and more about your ability to profoundly affect other players, characters, and the game world. Then again, what would I know?

Re: Usage of Think

The think command is overrated. Show in your roleplay with characters, don't tell the admins the Sparknotes in your think commands. You think: Why? He asks me why? Because I can't stand the sight of him, I can't stomach the stench of him. Every fiber of his being offends me. That's all well and good...

Such a command is ripe for abuse. I would deliberately abuse it.

Administrators should deal with player-versus-player disputes on a case-by-case basis.

There are GMUD clients that work for OS X, and I swear by GMUD. I've used GMUD for over ten years. In terms of bells and whistles, I can't really comment because I don't use them. However, it works and it's simple. That's why I like it.
