Let me start by saying, I don't think the MUD is "dead." It has been worst and bounced back. I haven't read this whole thread, but I don't think I will be out of line to express my opinion on the overarching theme. Ultimately, sustained activity and interest stems from players pursing their interest...

The way I've seen this best dealt with in the past is for players to establish a regular time to be active and do things together. This is most effective when coordinated with the Staff. The Staff can then decide if and how to interact with players as it makes sense or as they want to push a new plo...

I've always liked the idea of allowing players the flexibility to branch off of the main population centers and set up temporary living locations.

Though, I know there have always been code-related issues with these sorts of things in the past.

I personally like how fast hunger/thirst builds up. The change I would like to see is for water/beverages to quench your thirst significantly more so that it is easier to carry supplies to satisfy your bodily needs. Disabling <kill> may be the best solution. Alternatively, you could just make it have the same result as using <hit>.

<strike target location> is more effective for finishing off opponents already.

I don't think removing vNPC sales is realistic given the current set up. Merchants are suppose to be rich, licensing, etc. However, they are out of hand. There is a reason 90% of shops are empty 99% of the time (yay for imaginary numbers). Simply reducing vNPC sales may be one option and likely one ...

I think the inability/difficulty for people to acquire needs goods and materials from PC crafters is not only hurting the economy but player activity. If PC crafters could use shops to sell to players, it could greatly simplify this problem. I understand that face-to-face sells are preferable RPwise...

I'd say that a common enough thing is folks login, petition, don't see anyone (or anyone they like :lol: ) and logout. Perhaps return to weekly pRPT times (which staff might indeed pop by/arrange to be available for) to coordinate logins? I don't think any of the players invested in positions that ...
