Re: Heylo.

Hello, hello.

A character hasn't quite clicked for either of us - we haven't found the sort of easy niche that we used to have - but Riv and I are both around and remember you.

Huh, and looks like I was the last one to update the helpfile, too. Totally forgot about it.

Thanks for the reminder!

Re: Game Story - The Easterlings

I'm not opposed the idea, just suggesting limiting serious impact and/or "streams of refugees" to some specified or unspecified PART of Dorwinion (large or small), so that old PCs and new PCs don't end up with conflicting backstories.

Re: Game Story - The Easterlings

The Dorwinions may try valiantly, but everything is against them as they try to defend against the concentrated might of the Easterlings. Many of that people start to flee, refugees streaming into the lands of Rhovanion. Orcs are marshaling in the Mirkwood, with an unseen power growing in strength ...

Re: Listen / talk / tmote questions

2. Help tmote says, "Messages made with tmote will only be visible to members of your group or those seated at the same table." Does this mean that people not at your table won't see the EMOTE part of a tmote, or only that SPEECH in tmotes goes through whatever the current incarnation of the listen...

Listen / talk / tmote questions

1. Now that we don't have a listen/eavesdrop skill, does that mean our PCs' ability to overhear conversations will never improve? We'll always get just a few scattered words? (I remember the days when I could hear everything ... >sigh<) 2. Help tmote says, "Messages made with tmote will only be visi...

Not to mention a (free!) river which the (v)NPCs are specifically described as finding clean enough for laundry purposes.

Tolkien isn't really a "gritty realism" style of fantasy, anyway, is it?

When is it legal to sell items for coin?

Only merchants need to be licensed by the Artisan Union. Merchants are defined by the Artisan Union as an individuals selling, which is good for coin. And I can't find anything allowing AU members to buy from non-employees. However, I have seen several NPC stall holders who will buy from players - ...

PC Hair Length

Important things to keep in mind - your character isn't of a wealthy background unless otherwise permitted via your RPP role, it is expensive to maintain hair and would likely not have hair below the shoulders due to the costly factor of not only keeping it clean but pest-free. We do ask our player...

Travel Times & Costs

I feel like this documentation must exist, but I can't find it. (I have looked, really!)
  • 1. How long do the various (or at least the most common) barge trips take?
    2. How much do they cost?
Ballpark answers are fine, as are links to docs I should have found on my own. ;)

Has the possibility of renaming the Dorwinion "Gypsies" been discussed at all, staffside? To Nim, off-topic: Thanks for the reminder on 'set status' and the policy statement on teakettles. I'll try to remember not to mention any in my future backgrounds. Re: Magic in Shadows of Isildur

The world is /so/ full of magic that the fact that Aunt Pansy has a teakettle that could heat itself up without fire is not so much awe-inspiring as it is mundane. If I can put one of these teakettles in my backstory and get it accepted, that's news to me. I can deal with more or less any reasonabl...
