Re: Orc Sphere Wishlist

We could use a well or some sort of proper water source in the main hall. Having to go out to the lake to refill barrels is just an annoying chore

Capped Skills

With the new changes to colours in the skill list, how does one know when a skill is at it's cap or not? Previously it would show that it was maxed out by changing colour from green to brown, but not sure how to tell now.

Yeah, the speed you become hungry/thirsty when moving around a lot or fighting seems a bit excessive.

Re: Orc Sphere Wishlist

We need all the non craftable necessities such as mending kits, weapon repair kits, armour repair kits, honing kits, thread and artistry kits loaded back up into the swill hole so the baddies can get crafting again. Theres probably plenty of things I've forgotten about on this list.

Re: Orc Sphere Wishlist

Clan paydays used to be a thing, and there was an awesome new payday system where officers could manually set the pay rates for each soldier, and give them bonuses. If staff could reload the paymaster into the warrens, that would be superb. It would be really neat if rather than just having a staff ...

New AU roles

so how exactly do these new specializations work? Would a sword-smith be able to make and sell any type of weapon, and just receive a bonus to the selling of swords? Or would he only be permitted to sell swords with the new AU laws, and be unable to market say a mace or a dagger.

Re: Are we in Alpha?

I think the main thing to focus on in this thread, is that if staff-run plots are being put on the backburner again, players will need automated goals to keep them busy. Things like the orc-head bounty system that was introduced for the guard, new dungeon-crawls with scavengable treasures or ways to...

Re: Are we in Alpha?

My opinion on this is that when pro-active players are put into leadership positions clans will flourish and those players will find things to do. Promote pro-active players and allow them to create plots. Admin plots are awesome too, but players should be the engine driving any plot. easier said t...

Re: Resignation 2

serious question.. Where exactly did the word 'Snarfagle' originate? Gave 'er a google, and the only thing it leads to are posts from this games forums, so clearly it's a SOI meme/in-joke

Re: Resignation

I said in the other thread that we've become like a dysfunctional families; you know, those families where two brothers wont attend the same gathering because they want to murder each other, and where everyone knows everyone else's dirty secrets and delight in any chance to bring it up one more tim...

Re: Archery Code

A trained bowman can get off ten aimed shots in under a minute. A crossbow man can get two (winch, goat's foot) to six (manual pull) shots in the same time. Time in Middle Earth moves at an accelerated pace. If anything rate of fire is too slow. Cross bows are also much easier to use. Aka bonuses t...

Re: Trust

the low opinion you have of your playerbase feels pretty clear with that latest post, as well as the lengths you're willing to go to defend your own clique of favoured players. [quote Boxing the enemy in within Mirkwood with the guard exit command is pretty crappy too, if the sponsored elf got away ...

Re: Trust

This has already been proven false with the orc/elf conflict, RJ. The elf had some extra stuff at the time of this encounter, so he could survive the onslaught, but the orcs failed to engage in any roleplay at all. If they refuse to engage in roleplay with a boosted elf, what makes you think they'l...

Re: Trust

I really don't think that you'd feel good about that either, were the tables turned. Maybe I'm wrong, though. Not saying that you did anything wrong, Brian. I don't think that these policies are good for the game, and I think that this thread goes a long way to suggest that even the players who are...

Re: Trust

Heck... it's my dream to identify several invited roles to play Frodo, some of the dwarves, the bard, and even the dragon when the time comes. I truly believe -that- would be the absolute, most epic HRPT that we've ever seen. But in order for us to pull it off, there needs to be trust. Alas... I pr...

Re: Trust

- There is an unnatural fixation on stats along with making sure that each and every character falls within a standard that you believe is fair. More often than not, fair seems to be not having anyone in game that has better stats than you. - PK or dominance has taken the place of roleplay for many...

Re: Shadows of Sparville II: Grind, Twinks, and Power Creep

If it were me, I'd probably kill a lot of folks off in the finale of ALPHA, too, just so more players would roll into Laketown characters to fill out Laketown's atmosphere. Doesn't really make sense for Utterby PCs to outnumber Laketown PCs after all, does it? This is the only right way to go about...

Re: Archery Code

end of the day though, there's only two things that truly needs to be done for archery to balance it out. Make shields block arrows like in old SOI. Make arrows do primarily HP damage, and bleed damage comparative to spears, like on old SOI. edit: just timed it, and it takes approx 8 seconds to load...

Re: Archery Code

I'll post some sources later, but again, a rifle's point-and-shoot. Archery takes more skill/training. We're using breechloading firearms to represent archery, and that's just plain wrong/needs changing. You actually have that first bit backwards. A bow is point and shoot, while at long ranges a ri...
