Re: Weather System

People who are indigenous to an area handle the climate pretty well. I grew up in a very humid area in the Southern U.S. and we were still in the fields working on the hottest days. The worst was stacking hay in a barn loft under a metal roof, with not a breath of air moving in there. I got heat exh...

Re: Problems with Lake-Town, and Alternative Settings

Songweaver, let me answer from my point of view. First of all, it's a statement of opinion, not a criticism, and shouldn't be taken that way. I liked Atonement until the end, which just didn't suit what I think is fun, which should be everyone's criteria for whether they play a game! I started sayin...

It strongly feels like Atonement more than SoI to me too. I'm hoping it will change as we move through Alpha.

Re: Volunteering and community service interests

Stoneturtle, I love that story of making maps for India! I've been trying to think of more ways that any of us can help improve people's lives in the world's most ravaged communities, and one of my thoughts was to provide encouragement and support to people who are there, serving those communities....

Not the answer you wanted, my old friend, sorry... Even when I get it to work, it's only about 50%. I find it too annoying to bother with, and much too distracting when I should be paying attention to things that can kill me. My advice - Autolog everything, and then sit down with your logs when you'...

Re: Shadows of Isildur Wishlist

So, do people want to see superfriends in SoI, or is this just a massive derail? My post didn't seem to make it...trying again. Please no. The superfriends thing is why I left Atonement. I'm not the only one. I don't think we'll see that particular coming together of situations that made that unpla...

Re: ROE and YOU

ROE was one of those things that sounded really good but in practice was awful. And then new rules would be added to cover the new problems, and it rapidly grew to something impossible and enormously frustrating. People should be able to expect RP before combat, though. I just don't know how it can ...

Re: Hunters, Injuries, Wounded

I'm by no means saying, stay out of RP for X days, or even after your wounds codely heal, play the gimp. What I am saying, is that if you're covered by severe wounds, or have just been beaten unconscious, don't be jumping up and attacking everyone in sight, or trying to lead a charge. When Code say...

Re: Hunters, Injuries, Wounded

I tried roleplaying out combat injuries (as opposed to sparring injuries) for longer than it took for code to heal them with Ewan when he was a Footman. We had a healer who'd say, take it easy for 3 days or something, and I'd do it. Not only did I miss out on RP, I found that it simply was not appre...

Re: Rivermen, hillmen, and orc dead

I built a grave object too, for the Ithilien Battalions, but I like Songweaver's container idea better. That's brilliant! The thing I like about mine was that over a long time the appearance of the grave would age, so that you had a fresh grave, then maybe a grassy hump, then eventually a slight dep...

Re: Projected Focuses: Human Sphere

You might make crafts to establish logging camps, which then have to be periodically supplied, defended against attacks, and eventually harvested for a worthwhile amount of resources. An idea I've proposed before. The issue is that what you just described generally requires multiple progs. There's ...

Seeing two gay PCs might cause the same amount of general distress as seeing someone constantly having conversations with their cat. And if a gay PC were a military leader (or if a female PC were a military leader), the soldiers beneath them might have initial misgivings similar to if their officer...

Fireplaces

There used to be a craft, that used a poker to keep a fire going without having to feed in a whole new bundle of wood.

That would be very nice please, considering how short a time a bundle lasts!

Re: Scholars and Books - Memoriam Project

Unfortunately I have no logs/files/etc. of old SoI. But I'd like all Erinur's many hours of work making books not to fade away, as well as the many memories of PCs that appeared in them.

If anyone has logs of having read some of Erinur's books, I will do the clean up work on them. PM me!
