Re: Creating Plot

I've never struggled to get involved with admin plots on various games over the years. Here's my take in addition to EltanimRas' suggestions, which all look great. Make characters with IC goals that don't rely on admin interaction I pick something my character wants to achieve that gives me purpose....

It feels like the months are flying by in-game, and my PC's barely done anything.
I'd love that. Four is so fast.

Re: Usage of Think

I always think about myself and the admins as the readers in a story, so think/feel are there to provide those insights you'd get with third-person narratives, while still letting you play out the story with others. I love both, feel especially - who wants to think in words all the time? That said, ...

Re: Mercy

Personally, I don't have a problem dying, but I do dislike unsatisfying deaths. If there was to be a mercy command, I'd definitely prefer it to give me a chance to RP out a death properly. Either some way to stop coded combat and go to RP, maybe giving the victim a 'die' command (would have to not w...

Re: Broken Crafts

A charred pheasant from the 'roast charred-gamebird' craft doesn't work. Trying to eat it gives the 'that isn't food. You can't eat it' message.

ETA: I didn't have a clue that you could butcher cooked things. Noob. Thanks!

Re: How much should I play? [poll]

Maybe I should be spending less thought trying to work out a PC concept and playstyle that will be good from the start, and more figuring out how to keep myself motivated through an inevitably less than engaging beginning? This is what I did for my current, having taken the other approach for previ...

Re: MUD client for Mac

I can't recommend Atlantis enough: http://www.riverdark.net/atlantis/

All the autologging, highlighting etc is very easy to use and it's easy to customise to your own preferred set up. I haven't used anything else since Icarus recommended it years ago.

Re: Anyone else here with zero RP experience?

Back on another game, I was once a hapless newbie. It took me ages to figure anything out, I didn't know how to tell the difference between PCs and NPCs (it wasn't as easy as on here) and was very confused. Although I'd roleplayed before, I found the learning curve very steep. I found it really help...

Re: Public Comment - Exits

I first started on a MUD with diagonals and much prefer it.

I suppose wooded areas etc could have less as travelling easily in every direction could be hard, but it would be better if they weren't always cardinal directions.
