Even after the lit pipe object goes out (is no longer "(lit)") it's still a "lit pipe", and all the progs still work.

Idea: Slave Labor

Based on a few things knocked back and forth in the Mercy discussion, krelm's thread about orc-sphere diversity, and Real's post about raiding/trading crafts... 1. The rationale behind the "mercy" command is to encourage PvP by providing an escape from PK. 2. There are people who would like to see n...

3. Avoid clan wipes. If a clan wipes due to a bug, then I think everybody should get a rez, not just the ones with RPP. If a clan wipes due to bad leadership, well, them's the breaks. Hopefully the next guy will do a better job of assessing risk. I (with 0 RPP) do not want to follow the sergeant in...

Re: Mercy

What bothers me the most is that instead of staff back peddling and taking the feedback from the community and doing something else, they are 'DEFENDING' this awful idea and intending to put it in while ignoring the community anyway. To be fair, I feel Nimrod has the right to defend any bit of code...

Come one, guys, I'm sure we're capable of expressing our reservations without all the snark...

Aren't we?

But I'll definitely agree this command just doesn't seem in keeping with the spirit or history of the game. :(

I've never managed to keep long-running interest in a character on Haven, but I hear nice things.

(Plus, the thought of seeing modern interpretations of current orcs and Utterbites amuses me...)

Butcher bear-carcass (and backstraps, I'm fairly certain) produces venison on most of the cuts instead of bear (it's been a long time, so I can't recall which exactly, sorry, just that it's most of it) Also, butcher wolf-carcass produces uncookable steaks, they're flagged as $beastmeat instead of $...

Re: Gather Cave-Mushrooms Bugged

Other note: I remember reading somewhere in the ancient tomes of RPI's across the times... hunger and thirst status affect things (craft success, combat success, healing rate, stat status.. is this true????) It has always been my understanding that yes, this is true. Hence why so many people who ot...

Re: Straight Artistry Craft Ideas & Existing

do artistry kits work? EVERYTHING I try to decorate is not an 'end product' of a craft and therefore un-decoratable. I haven't used artistry myself, but I've seen items in-game that have been decorated. 1. What kind of kit are you using? I know there are a few different kinds, and it may be that yo...

Do scarves also see an effect in mitigating cold damage? Because it would be awesome if they did.

By "not addressed" I just meant that no one had stepped up to say it wasn't accurate, or to point to any information on it. The places I'd looked didn't give me any substantial answers. Now people are offering input on it, and that was really all I was looking for.

Re: Concerns and Constructive Criticism

But Beornings? What on earth? Beornings aren't even a thing until after the Battle of the Five Armies. I haven't read the books since high school, but if this is accurate then, yeah, having Beornings in-game is kind of weird at this point. I don't really have a lot of input toward the overall compl...

Re: keywords and passwords

First, assuming I have 2 containers on my character (one in hand, one worn) with exactly the same description, how can I target one of them in particular (with get, for instance)? Dropping one to the ground is also annoying - how do I target that one? For most objects you can target by number tag w...

You shouldn't remove a RP tool in a public area because some n00b was spamming burning meat. If anything if someone that works the bar walks into that it's even more RPz. For real. Back when I was a little newblet, I made the mistake on my first character of cooking at the fire place in the main ha...

Re: Starting skill levels & combat skillgains

I think I expected a Tolkien game to feel a lot different than this, but I'll hold out that Laketown is different and maybe return then. It's become a bit of a dead horse argument, I know, but it is important to remember that this is alpha. Utterby really is just a staging area toward the end produ...

Re: Pre-Game Bugs

I'd heard that the bug causing sparring weapons to do weird damage like frostbite had been fixed, but I ran into one of these in game. Are these just hold-overs from the earlier bug, or is that still a problem? And if we encounter bugged weapons what should we do with them?

Re: Common Religion in Utterby

Keep in mind with these opinions that I've not read the books in a very long time, so I may be missing details. What I was wondering is, what sort of influence does religion play in the everyday lives of the citizens? There do not seem to be churches, so would there be other gathering places? As pla...

I'll say that I basically agree with what Rivean is saying. I think the Ongull legend would shine brighter if the themes and the scope of its influence are kept somewhat narrow. If you look at tall tales, they tend to be fairly simple. And agree on the general philosophy of concrit. Finding someone ...

Re: Wearing multiple pieces of layered armor

A padded gambeson would make sense under mail or metal armor (as an arming coat). The point of doing so was to make sure your armor didn't cause you just as much damage as the weapons it was protecting you from. But leather armor wouldn't have the same problem as metal, so wearing padding underneath...
