Re: Gear Creep and Perception

Most of the work seems like it's designed to turn gear creep into a gear sprint.

Re: Farewell For Now

ETA: There's also a long rant in there by someguy about how much I suck, but that's not news to anyone so we're letting that one slip by uncontested. The game is ruined. Other players are not spending the time to thoughtfully respond to every truthful comment that I make and instead doing something...

Re: Farewell For Now

Unfortunately, the problem is that getting this feedback and having these policy reversals is like having your teeth pulled, and even when staff reverse decisions, it seems to come after hours of arguing and very vocal disgruntlement. Because you are quick to accept the ideas and opinions of others...

Re: Concerns and Constructive Criticism

This was an RPT situation wherein staff-initiated code bucked wildly, the staff involved acted to correct that as quickly as possible. Please direct any and all concerns to Elder Staff. Thanks. I think that wanting to know when the (stupid) blanket no rez policy got changed without anyone being not...

You'd think they'd invent pegs and mortise and tenons joints and other sorts of joints that only use glue, tension, and wood....like Ava said.

Re: The game economy is broken.

As long as there is nothing game breakingly awesome to buy, it doesn't matter if somebody stashes a billion coins, and I would control someone who twinkishly did by having Geriac say: good job, lad, thanks for covering the pay of the Merchant guard this month. Have a nice day. It frustrates me more ...

See the economy is broken thread. Two drinks is 1/3rd of a guard's income. I believe the lodge people are paid worse.

Re: Hunger and Food

It's not the raw materials. It is converting from the raw material to the cooked product. The percentage of players interested in cooking skill gains is small. The percentage of players not interested in starving is large.

Re: Mercy

Ok, how about this. Not being able to use the kill command on a PC until they are unconscious and then have a little blurb about how douchy it is, forcing you to type kill again. Edit: Maybe even a way to engage in a turn based final combat scene which would really only work well in one on one fight...

Re: Mercy

There will be plenty of perma death. I want to squash the idea that a pvp confrontation does not always need to end in a PK, which seems to be what a lot of people expect. Despite my reputation, I'm not that big of a PKer. I generally die to the environment (other than Atonement BETA). But, I think...

Re: Mercy

How would staff enforce it after the fact? Just set dude dead from their wounds? I get a feeling staff wouldn't be eager to do that after the lost RPP. Revise the no rez period policy and if a situation was jacked up codely, give them a rez. Don't code a get out of death with a minimum cost (because...

Re: Keywords

You can't change the original keywords to remove them, but you can mistakenly remove any keywords you add later. I think that if guides can't get a handle on it, chargen should be changed so that instead of picking a sdesc, a ldesc, and keywords, you pick your shortdesc and then it automatically gen...

Re: Starting skill levels & combat skillgains

Because gathering the most precious current IG resource with no risk was deemed to be game breaking, probably, like it was in Atonement Beta when the code was changed to make forage reveal a hiding person.

Re: Starting skill levels & combat skillgains

Four skills at familiar is not exactly the keys to the kingdom. Starting as even more worthless than that, though, will really cause new players to enjoy the game. Yes, you're straight out of chargen, but that doesn't mean you're straight out of the womb. Adroits and masters are something to be prou...

Re: Starting skill levels & combat skillgains

I don't care if you agree with me or not, but if you're going to disagree with me at least do it from a position based on the current state of chargen instead of what you think it might be before you call me some sort of entitled nob.

Re: Starting skill levels & combat skillgains

Thirdly, boohoo..you can't start off a badass. I'm never going to sympathize on this one. I'm tired of everyone in today's society thinking they "deserve" to have what they want handed to them. If you don't want to play a game where you start off weak and build up to being stronger, then don't play...

Re: Starting skill levels & combat skillgains

Back on topic: If anything though, I do find that the skill level pool is a bit low, and this is already something in discussion on Staff. I will note, that skills are coming in just about 6-7 points lower than before on average. It's just enough to dump you from one category to another, so you all...
