Re: Woodcrafting Craft Timers

Reducing the fail timer, or eliminating it sounds to be in order.

Re: Broken Crafts

That or the uses increased. I can make about 9 arrows before having to find nails and glue, which seems a bit crazy on the woodworking table, and then get knocked wth a timer.

Re: RPP Proposal

Considering how powerful even single point stat boosts can be, preference would be toward skill boosts instead.

It also seems to be running at a pretty high rate. Went through 18 coppers of a 20cp payday just keeping fed on the inn progs.

Re: Are we in Alpha?

One concern: if staff focus on building, where are the folks who are going to run the great plots and stories come from once you go full open? RPAing is just as much a skill as building, and if you lose all RPA expertise and practice because you don't cultivate folks whose specific job it is to RPA,...

Re: Are we in Alpha?

He answered it. He literally quoted you. You asked for posts you've made that indicated what he claimed, he provided them, and you call it cherry picking. "Shadows of Isildur is not, nor will ever be, a game of constant, in-your-face admin plots and action, action, action. Ours is a slower, more con...

Re: Magic in Shadows of Isildur

I think that this iteration of SOI has made it quite clear that it is selective on what it picks from the old SOI as canon. For example, orcs in this iteration speak common and orcish, as opposed to the blackspeech of old. I wouldn't rely on anything previously established to mark what is held as tr...

Re: Magic in Shadows of Isildur

I think that is a fundamental misunderstanding of the world of Tolkien. Magic is everywhere, in everything, visible to everyone. Magic is mundain. Coats that button themselves, trolls with magical pockets, dwarves with spells of secret, moon letters, etc. You literally cannot read 10 pages of the ho...

There are of course the combination locked chests that could be loaded as no-take in a shopfront.

Lock it and HM the combination to whoever needs to open it.

Re: Racial Stat Boosts

#3 seems to be the common-sense option that sticks close to lore, allows the barriers to play those chars to be lower (because they won't be overpowered), and keeps long-lived mundane characters competitive.

So yeah, +1 to that.

Re: Trust

This is coming from a player perspective, as I brought SOI back originally to have a game to play. In the past, you've proposed a number of systems to "rescue" people from danger, or to remove them from that danger. You've also proposed systems to remove certain permanant death mechanics. This seems...

(As a note, I was an asshole towards Rishte and am sorry for that. I jumped to a conclusion that she was just making stuff up, which is a. unlike her to do, and b. not what she was doing. There was a miscommunication re how mounts work. I've sent her some clarifying stuff re: how mounts work and suc...

Re: Trust

You, like all of staff, have access to the legacy Admin Area documentation from SOI that we used quite often. You know, the one that contains documentation for rset, helms, masks (you made masks once IIRC and we got the info from that), and amidst all that documentation is indeed all the needed stuf...

Re: Trust

Just because you personally don't know how to do something does not mean it doesn't exist my dear. The citadel animation was mine. With an NPC. On a variable horse mob. That worked just fine. You say "stables do not work" -- I say, set up a mobile, give him an ostler flag, and type stable <mount>. C...

Re: Trust

There's no reason they don't codedly work Rishte. Set up a mobile with the ostler tag and they'll pur along for the stable. I just tested it on my copy of the server, no issues. No need to give players complex sounding lines of bull about setvaled objects standing in for mobiles or variables not wor...

Re: Trust

Could've sworn I saw a mounted knight in the mirkwood from the citidel during a plot. Not to be dick. It could've just been some good echos to make me think the guy was mounted, but I do remember there was a mount. I'll take your word for it not being possible right now, after-all this is atonement...
