Re: Is it time to consolidate?

Your idea of blowing up Utterby and moving the humans to Vadok-adjacent Easterling camp is a consolidation I actually would agree with. It sounds a bit like Baakath/TE+G 2.0.

Supply me with the dynamite and I'll handle the details!

Re: Is it time to consolidate?

Now that I think of it, there were some NPC-enemy-RPTs I found immersive and satisfying as you described, recently and back in the time of SoI v 1.0. For example, I immensely enjoyed last year's Vadok RPT when they fought their nemesis clan. The NPC enemies were exquisitely role played and the echoe...

Re: Is it time to consolidate?

Re: consolidation, I'm against it. The arrangement of two strikingly different spheres in PVP opposition (even if the encounters are infrequent) is one of SoI's most distinguishing aspects; it was what attracted me to this MUD when I first joined in the era of Osgi-vs-MM. While I have seen some amaz...

Re: Is it time to consolidate?

Ah, a familiar name, Meeriya! You described RP with her to a "T". To me, the experience always felt like we were a couple of Gandalfs kicking back, smoking Westmansweed, observing in silence the intricate puffs of smoke created without exchanging a word...if that makes any sense. My emotes usually a...

Re: Farewell For Now

The major problem I'm seeing here is a lack of communication between play testers and game designers and back and forth postings on forums is not the ideal means for such. As a part-time play tester of euro-style board games over the last ten years I can attest to the HUGE amount of discourse requir...

I just discovered this channel a few days ago and I'm almost convinced he's a former SoI admin. :D

Today's lesson in SoI:

The highlight command, while great for combat, doesn't necessarily highlight everything pertinent occurring in spars, such as motions to stop.

Thanks. Found the comp screen button and working on it, but it's now only occasionally wrapping at the edge, leaving out a few words here and there.

In-Game Screen-Width

I've been having a problem lately trying to read the text on my screen in-game. The lines break early so that the text output occupies slightly less than half my screen's width, resulting in information in large-desc rooms scrolling out of sight the moment I step in, prior to any room activity. I'm ...

Re: Presence

It's like making someone take farming/music and being like 'one day it'll be for something!' Until then just suck balls and talk about how awesome of a musical farmer you are. And when it's finally implemented, you're an incompetent newb musical farmer despite being in the game three years and have...

Re: Random SOI Thoughts

Sometimes I use the palisade (or the east gate) just to avoid the town square / north gate area. Sometimes I feel guilty about it. Very interesting! A palisade-venturing lass dressed in fine silks and wearing expensive jewelry is here. <****** / ^^^^^^ / ||||||> You begin walking eastward. It is pi...

Real, a thread titled "Random SOI Thoughts" in the Out of Character Chatter section of the forum is the last place I expect someone to take me (or themselves) seriously.

Scroll up. Note smiley face. Relax.

Re: Random SOI Thoughts

In essence, it is a knife, and there are many like it, but at least this one is yours. I had a character in the Pel Dagor who used to mumble something like that every time they gathered at the gate for a patrol. I feel unloved when no one answers my notifies. Even if you're all locked in your secre...

Re: You folks with fancy words

Why do you dredge up the ghost of poor Meeriya so? I wasn't particularly a fan of her emoting style, but I enjoyed playing with her and my PC and hers shared a very strangely intimate relationship. She brought out the dark philosopher in that rogue. Who's dredging??! I'm not dredging!! *suspiciousl...

Re: You folks with fancy words

You're conflating an eloquent emoting style with self-indulgent narcissism. I can assure you that the two things are entirely different, and the latter annoys me as much as it does anybody else. Honestly, I think it is too easy to confuse the two. I recall one player in particular (back in the MT e...

Re: Roleplay "Rules of Engagement"

If there's absolutely no IC reaction at all -- and you can tell the player isn't afk or lagged out -- I'd say consider either repeating yourself IC (speaking up, walking closer, waving) or just resubmitting your original pose with a (repost) tag. Whichever makes the most sense for the scene you're ...
