Re: Accidental death

I wouldn't reroll into the orc sphere without major changes to the way things are handled. I'm also leery of popping over when it's only operating at half capacity up top, because then I can't reasonably observe those policy changes over a period of time. But Pallando promised a lot of things when h...

Re: Skills - What do they actually use?

Agility caps out speed for rate of attacks on certain weapons pretty low. After a point having high agility stops being useful, though that's just for smaller weapons. Larger weapons actually seem to benefit from having high agility, but you suffer by dint of having only a set amount of points to sp...

Re: Problems with Lake-Town, and Alternative Settings

Hahaha. Krelm has built so many of these games. You really gonna make him build one or two more from scratch? Anyway on the one hand I'm just glad we have a game back, and I'm not too bothered with the Lake Town setting in itself, as long as we're not strictly adherent to canon. I wouldn't mind anot...

He could do that at anytime still. Being a fruitloop IC was more interesting for him.

Re: Bog Iron

Simple rebalancing can easily solve the whole, "Hur durr, if we give people the ability to get shitty iron, they'll just monopolize refined iron". Take the refinement crafts out and introduce importation of refined metal instead. Let crafters craft.

Re: Selecting Attribute Importance

There's a base pool that your stats start at before other rolls are made (which are calculated to be higher or lower depending on the number from 1-10 you set them at, which increases their overall percentage) which lends stability to all your stats across a board. A stat could start out at a (possi...

Re: Teaching.

It's not +1 per teach, there's a formula for it. The old broken teach could jumpstart a skill like a car, and bring it from Talented to Master in one lesson. I don't really know how it works and I don't know anyone who could tell you either, but a successful teach will help someone gain more dependi...

Re: Wilderness animals?

I wouldn't mind the return of spiders, but the snakes had a habit of winding up in places you wouldn't expect them to be, no matter what the parameters behind their loading were. The spiders were a good predator item to have in the wilderness because they were dangerous and numerous, and they also d...

Re: Calling all doctors, wannabe doctors

I'm not depressed and when I have the enthusiasm to do things, I become extremely happy. I'd say I know exactly how this all feels, because the act of sleeping itself is immensely pleasing to me, but I wouldn't say, no matter how much sleep I get, which is typically between 6 and 12 hour stints, tha...

Re: Orcish Sphere Declining?

I don't think I've ever seen a thread like this sprout fresh, new ideas to gain players and keep old players. It seems to be an established routine; be interesting and make things happen. Okay I know a lot of people are going to complain when Zerero says something, anything, in general, but this is...

Re: Orcish Sphere Declining?

Make a compelling, non-passive action while IG. Don't let NPCs dictate your motives. Expect nothing to happen if you stand still and wait for it. Create goals and then ask for support in bringing about their final stages after the fact. You don't seem to realize that I'm not posting for no reason, b...

I'm not saying that I might not have hurt the dude's feelings for being a little presumptuous, but just because he's excused for messing up doesn't mean he didn't mess up, it just means he'll go the full-length to make sure it gets done right next time. The person in question is competent and compli...

Re: Military RP (Inspiration/Resources)

Not that I'm saying these things/military discussions with all the regulations and tactics and such isn't useful for Military clans and their kind of RP, but right now no such clan exists that I'm aware of. I'm kind of used to the general consensus that a lot of people aren't fans of the Batts way o...

Re: Utterby Wish List

I wasn't about to verbally chew anyone out, like a couple other dudes just did, which by the way wasn't classy. But it was a foul, yes, and it shouldn't be a repeat incident, once the lesson gets learned, but I suppose you guys are right, it wasn't made clear enough from the start, so it should prob...

Re: Utterby Wish List

There's literally very little in the way of "metal clad orc guards", for the record. But that's beside the point.

And yeah, outraged and embarrassed. That was kind of like saying, wow, we made this mistake before, and we all learned from it, right?

Right?

Apparently not.

Woah, woah, woah. Let's calm down. Realize for fact that the majority involved in this incident are just as outraged and embarrassed and that it wasn't intentional.

Well they're not scantily clad by comparison, in all truth, but that's beside the point. Both sides have performed recklessly in the past, and hopefully both sides will perform less recklessly after this re-occurring incident. Apologized for walking that close to the gates, with such a clear presenc...

Yeah I'm legitimately pissed, speaking from the opposite side, that that came to pass. But it was one person leading a bunch of people into the maw, and then RIGHT up to the proverbial and perhaps literal doorstep, without the majority's consent. I suppose we should've known better and chosen not to...

Re: Shadows of Isildur Wishlist

I guess there's a tossup here, Lucky, because the staff on the Old SoI that Was probably would agree with the following statement, "Let the NPCs be novices, let the PCs be heroes". From Atonement Beta onwards, the people involved with administrative decisions have decided that heroes who are all the...

I guess I should clarify I'm not exactly an advocate of sparring increasing your skill levels beyond Adroit, but certainly toward Talented. I'm also an advocate of sparring being far less dangerous than it is now, with the chance for accidents. Balancing. ETA: Sparring with real weapons, obviously, ...
