Keep it in-character

Post by Nimrod » Mon Oct 27, 2014 4:33 pm

Staff has been instructed to immediately begin steps to keep things more 'in-character' within our game. Players will be held to the same standard. Henceforth, overuse of the ooc command will draw the attention of staff and possibly result in a warning to keep it in-character.

Staff will also, whenever possible, answer petitions in an in-character manner through existing npcs or appropriate echoes.

I encourage the use of the 'STATUS' command for any needs you may have, i.e. paydays and minor bits, as well as pursuing answers to these things in an in-character manner when appropriate.

Before using the petition command you should carefully weigh any other options that you could use to get what you want and use petition as a last resort.

Our staffers love the appreciation that many of you give, we thank you for that. We ask that you not take offense if your petition thanking them for an animation or whatever help they've given you goes unanswered. It is not required that you express your thanks via petition, though we will not prohibit it.

It is not my intent to drive a stake between players and staff, this policy is intended to help players become immersed in our world. Please play accordingly.
How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

We are still working to keep things in-character as much as possible, but you should see a pretty abrupt turn about with punishments being doled out. We lost sight of the overall meaning of the game and got over aggressive with how we enforced some rules.

Please keep petitions to a minimum and try to use our support system at support@middle-earth.us when you can. We understand that there are times that a quick petition will work better, and we'll work with you as best we can. Please don't abuse the command as we're going to try to try to answer as much as we can with in-character animations rather than just telling you something via a send.

Thanks all. Try to keep the language in check, though the occasional use shouldn't cause any issues. Respect works both ways... we'll do our utmost to be respectful of you, so please give us some love back.

Thanks!
