Also because the refs are crooked.

Brazilians may not come out of this any better than there team. Priced out of games, millions invested in the game, wide misuse of public funding, rioting.

Yeah, that was the intent of my post. Brasil as a country 'wins' simply by hosting. Brazilians as a people lose. Teams aside.

Gracias, senor. Se escribe 'Brasil', y no 'Brazil'.

Spain out. England out. Italy out. Record-breaking amounts of goals. What an odd WC.

Also, he did it again! WTF?!

I desperately want USA to win. That's an overly ambitious dream, though, and I'm well aware of that.

Maybe Chile.

If Mexico wins I'm committing seppuku Alabama style (gutting myself with a sword somehow constructed from Budweiser bottle caps).

Sorry to say it, Nyn, but even if this turns into the South America Cup (which it may well do), the Netherlands is taking it this year. They're out for blood. Just look at what they did to Spain. It was a massacre.

Make a suit of armor out of high life cans then go outside in in it and wait for the sun to do the rest. Redneck brazen bull.

I really hate the ref figured Ronaldo should have another full HALF to tie us.

And yes..the Dutch obviously have some anger issues over the last cup they need to work out.

Destroying an underrated opponent does not automatically a World Cup winner make!

I feel like there are a few teams who could've done that to Spain.

England is also consistently overrated.

Whatever. I'm gonna keep pub-crawling for every USA game anyway, so hopefully when we inevitably lose, I'll be about as drunk as I was Sunday night.

Observe. Right after we scored to take the lead:

Not pictured: A very sad Nyn face down in the booth when it turned into a draw.

I like pubs. 'MERICA.

I agree, Spain was overrated, definitely shouldn't have held that high a ranking. Kit is right though, the Dutch are on a warpath. I'm not pulling for them, but dem goals.

None of this matters because in addition to pulling for Team America:

Mexico is a lovely country with a beautiful, rich people.

But holy shit they have the worst fans in all of soccer. Not to mention they're our biggest rival.

They may have the worst fans, but they have the best coach in the whole damn thing!

Tim Howard put on a stellar display, today. Shame US doesn't like to play until the last 15 minutes....

This has totally been the tournament of the keeper. There have been some amazing goal tending displays.

That said, I think Belgium fully deserved the win in this one. Until that last 10 minutes they carried the play and if it wasn't for Howard this would have been a slaughter.

Oh, they definitely deserved the win. I don't think it matters a whole lot. I'm not a Messi worshipper, but I don't Belgium or the US can handle Argentina.

We will never know, the Argies have not exactly slaughered their way through the tournament.
