Food & Drink

Post by cfelch » Sat Jan 03, 2015 3:41 pm

I notice that it seems to take a lot more food and drink units to fill up than before.

This has led me to such things as:

Having to buy & eat 10+ items to get full.
Which is very spammy mind you.

drink river 20+
You drink most the water in the river.

For some reason the messaging seems more relative to how much a given vessel has been drained (which is clearly subjective) instead of relative to how much you are consuming (sip, drink, gulp, chug, drought) which would be in turn relative to the number of units in that races thirst meter.

Also, there is an issue of guess whats left, if the unit number you input is too large it give you a fail message.
Could it just consume what it can?
Every point ever made was an argument.

Yeah, being at feeling peckish and thirsty, and needing to eat 8 slices of ham and drink 3 full water skins seems a bit much.

Glad to hear about the changes rolling in!
Haven't had time to log in lately to see for myself, but i hope that 'all' is an acceptable value.

Yes, though I think if you use "all" it requires an emote. :D

Even if no one else is in the room with you?
That seems a little pedantic... but I will survive.
Thanks again!

You really don't have much experience with RPIs, do you cfelch?

Maybe its just a matter of being an off hour player.
RP with others i find enjoyable.
RP with staff is enjoyable.
RP with myself... is monotonous.

Though perhaps the reduced repetition will help with that as well.

To put a twist on an old adage:
If you RP and nobody saw it, did it really happen?

Give me 'the player' some active hint I am being observed and I will step up my game.

Otherwise it seems like wasted effort that could be better spent on the mechanical side of gameplay to be more efficient when a social situation arises.

To better satisfy with these changes, Inns, taverns and other appropriate locales will soon be able to "plate" meals.

These plated meals will combine the cost, calories, variables, and taste strings into one object for ease of customer purchase.

It will allow creativity on behalf of players without relying on skill (IE, a non cook can put things on a plate like a server at a restaurant) or additional crafts. This allows future craft building and branching to focus on the creation of different components people can the combine by choice.

Trenchers (AKA bread bowls) will work as a usable, edible plate in the same way, and thus no longer will separate crafts and items for stew/pudding/sops and then this items combined with trenchers be necessary.

Rejoice!

Does this also mean the taste descs will be revised, and actually not be weird and glitchy?

<#****** / ^^^^^^ / ||||||> look plate

It is a rather plain looking plate.

A serving of: a serving of plain-roasted venison,
It tastes dry, gamey, and a little chewy.

This is a serving of plain-roasted venison. Chances are this is the product
of spit-cooking, the meat seems a little dry compared to some other varieties,
though it has been nicely browned on the outside and the inner meat is a deep
greyish-red. It looks like it will be quite filling, in spite of being plain.

A serving of: a rasher of neutral-smoked bacon,
It tastes like bacon - delicious, fatty pork meat, and rich with the neutral flavour of smoke.

This is portion of boar or pork belly with tasty waves and ripples of
visible fat that has been skillfully prepared and preserved with neutral smoke
from mixed-wood wood. It will no doubt make a delicious addition to any meal,
or a simple foodstuff all by itself.

A serving of: a long, green leek stalk,
It tastes crunchy and slightly oniony.

This leek stalk is bright green with a white bulk at the end of it with a
group of small root tendrils extruding from it. It has a slightly sweet,
oniony smell. The leaves are wide and thick, being hollow in the centre.
How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
