this is sadly true, from what I've experienced. I kind of wish there was a way for us fools who picked it to get those wasted points tossed into any other stat
A really bad sword with a short blade lies here.

This sword hardly even a sword. It's kind of really just a piece of metal bent like a sword. Its blade is rather short. Kind of pathetic, really.

I think if they change it to a static 10 rolling those points randomly over your useful stats would be a good idea.

Quick question. Is scan/search based solely on attributes or is there some hidden skill which determines your chance of success?

Search should be int. Don't think scan has anything to do with rolling vs anything, as it seems 100% consistent to me. Watch might be different, but I don't know.
