Crafting with no skill in the area

I made my character, and I don't want to reroll him, but I decided I'd like a crafting skill.

Problem is, no one can TEACH yet due to the restrictions on the command.

Is it possible to learn any of the crafting skills "from scratch"? Maybe by repeatedly using one of the general crafts?

I'm particularly interested in making arrows so I can keep hunting, due to how difficult arrows are to make at the moment.

How can you learn woodcrafting by yourself, then, for instance?

Avenues to learn crafts from general areas are explicitly more and more useful, when spheres have a shortage of preferred players and when one of it's most important characters dies, with all the relevant crafts you need to get anything done.

Even if it'd take awhile, and wouldn't get you past Beginner in the skill, I'm bumping this because everyone has to start somewhere, and not everyone learned to not be crappy at a trade by having a master mentor, though it certainly helps.
