It would make me a happy human if there were lockers in the bunkrooms so my shit didn't keep getting stolen!

Seriously, though. Lockers? Can we? Is it even possible?

Yesplz.

And private rooms. Which I heard are supposedly coming soon to an inn near you.

As it stands, my character has to constantly carry around every single thing that he owns because I am paranoid.

If staff didn't want private rooms (and I can see why they might not), renting out lockable chests for a pittance still seems like an idea worth considering. (And what a great place for a lock-picker to explore! :D)

I think lockable chests would be fine enough, not sure about lockets in the theme. But simple chests would suffice.

Or we could just all stop being douchebags and quick picking up things that don't belong to us...or ask first...but no. This will never happen. Internet.

To be fair - thieves exist. So long as it's RPed out properly I don't see the problem with this. Though eventually, pick-locks WILL exist, and we should reward them with a juicy locked containable filled with our goodies.

There's IC thievery. There are IC mistakes & misunderstandings. And then there are OOC mistakes. Omote locks may help with that last category, while still allowing the first two?

Code: Select all
omote mything is neatly folded at the foot of a bunk. !

(Note the exclamation mark.)

We're not OMOTING locks, that just ISN'T going to happen.

The second players actually CONSIDER omotes in their actions, I'll eat both my feet, my keyboard, and whatever else I can manage before dying.

It's just not happening.

Errr. Not omoting locks? Omoting whatever you'd normally omote to indicate that your items haven't been randomly discarded on the floor, then "locking" your omote with the exclamation mark, so that it doesn't get disturbed by (OOC) accident, only intentionally.

Flush pheasant or whatever, I'm assuming it's a hunting craft, obviously needs a like 500 hour timer, since people can't be assed to use it responsibly.

A note to pheasant spammers:

You are not even doing yourself that much of a favor.
Flush pheasant is a poor way to branch. (in my experience, at least)
Were you catching this bird, the fact that there are a million of them everywhere will actually make the process more difficult, since you have to dia 2.phe or dia 4.phe, who becomes 2.phe who becomes 5.phe...

What you're doing is wrecking the wilderness for people who sneak around and subjecting others to spam. Even if it's the holy grail of branching, people are going to get pissed off and your favorite (clearly) craft nerfed.
Everything gets smaller now the further that I go
Towards the mouth and the reunion of the known and the unknown
Consider yourself lucky if you think of it as home
You can move mountains with your misery if you don't

Look, OMOTING and expecting players to appreciate the OMOTE isn't going to happen. Players aren't very fair more often than not. Also, just assuming lockable containers without access to an actual locksmith is cheap and cheating.

Get a locksmith, NPC or PC, get some locks. Do it legit.

This is the new and improved Jme, this is the legit Jme.

Except that wasn't what anyone was suggesting. If you end an omote with an ! at the end of it, you have to type get <item> ! to take it or omote on it. That cuts down on things being taken by players who didn't actually intend to take them. That's what EltanimRas was suggesting.

Yep. Because even if the first person goes "Oops!" and drops the item straight off, they've broken your omote, which, if they don't reset it for you, means your item now looks carelessly abandoned, rather than neatly stowed.

Nobody's suggesting that virtual locks would be kosher, any more than virtual fireballs. ... Well, maybe a bit more than virtual fireballs. ;)

Sorry for not making my first post on the topic clearer.

Please can we have an ig message board in the Lodge? I'd suggest the kitchen area. Or even one in each section, kitchen, smithy and mill rooms/areas for leaving orders, messages, etc...

The pheasant thing is really getting ridiculous and the person doing it isn't even trying to kill them.

Can some admin please waste their time purging all the pheasants?
