New Weaponcraft Bugs

Gonna post this here for people who are playing with new weaponcrafting. And for bugs people find with it.

So it seems the simple hilts you can make from basic-weaponcraft, are completely utterly useless now. You need to make hilts from trash-weaponcrafting, to use them with the poor weaponcrafting.

This may be intentional, but at the same time, I don't like it. A hilt is a hilt is a hilt. It shouldn't matter what kind of hilt it is, if it's made for a specific weapon type. You have to modify the blade in the first place to get it to fit according to the crafts.

So hence, I think this is a bug. If this is the case too, I'm betting all the weapon hafts I have for axes are also now useless.

This is not a bug. It's intentional. A hilt is a hilt is not a hilt when it's knife/sword/axe/spear haft, and you have five crafts that make a simple hilt. It's just extra fluff that the previous crafter put in that's unnecessary. From now on, you just have two hilt/haft crafts, respectively one for each.

A hilt is a hilt, when it's made specifically for a sword.

The simple hilts, and the cross-guard hilts are going to be completely phased out? Then I want my craft timers back, and my materials back.

Because it's bloody ridiculous. I spent 4 weeks making stuff, only to have it all reset, then none of my materials are useful anymore. It's not right.

And as for an explanation of how the old tier matches up against the new tier of weaponcrafting:

basic = poor
ordinary = ordinary

The old basic crafts are the same quality to the new poor-weaponcrafting. Ordinary weaponcrafting blades/hafts/hilts will become useless. I'm not quite sure if I'll re-use the blades, but I'll certainly trash the hilt/hafts due to the unneeded complexity of $haftstyle. Keep this in mind when you're creating weapons. Stockpiling accessories probably isn't the greatest idea. I am currently working on a craft to melt down old blades into hunks of scrap metal.

I could care less about stockpiled supplies (who has time for that?) but I'd hope that all of my ordinary-metal-weaponcraft crafts don't suddenly become useless, or I at least get some new crafts added to my list to make up for all those hours of branching useless old-crafts.

That is up to the discretion of Staff. I was charged with revamping weaponcrafting, and am doing so. However, I think it's entirely reasonable for Staff to reimburse weaponcrafters with equivalencies in the new weaponcrafting tree.

Depends on when the next swap/reboot is. I had these fixed early in the afternoon PST time.

It seems warhammers made with these new crafts are lights? What the crap?

They also don't show up as 'warhammer' in the shortdesc, and the head item before it's attached to the haft, it comes up as "a warhammer, unfinished hammer head"

Rather then an "unfinished warhammer head"

Which then causes the weapon to look like: "A stained hammer on a tan-leather bound haft" or whatever.

It's not even considered a warhammer. I type rem warhammer, and it says "Remove what?"

The description only describes it as a 'massive hammer' when I made a warhammer.

Yeah. I have a hammer that didn't morph into a warhammer, and I can't wield it either, it comes up as a "used as a light"

No admins around to replace it, or refund my craft hours. T_T

I don't have the full log, but I do have my glowy hammer-light.

One of these weird not-a-hammers showed up in Utterby too. I think Krelm said something about it being a bug where numbers being mistakenly doubled turned it into a light rather than a weapon. I forget where on the forum it was mentioned...

I don't think we're finding the lesser-version of bog-iron, or the ingots in the shop aren't technically the same type of iron as the ruined hunks make.

As I couldn't refine them together.
