By comparison with other cooking crafts:

plain-meat has a timer of 5
boil hot-water has a timer of 15
whole-coney has a timer of 20
whole-boar has a timer of 30

That says we might need to start looking at some of those cooking craft timers. I'd say if anything, things need to be bumped up. Cooking an entire boar should probably take you some time. ;)

Are we going for realism or playability? If so, if you're raising timers, can you make it so you don't need 50 bites of food to feel full per meal? I don't think this should go both ways.

Meh, I kind of like these long timers. It makes just being a cook a sensible, realistic position within the game.

Then decrease the 50 bites and 100 sips thing to a reasonable size and it won't be ridiculous to have giant timers for something that's disposable, constantly required, and pretty much cosmetic.

takes like 8 slices of whatever to go from famished to full
Don't really need to decrease the amount of water needed because all sources are pretty much infinite besides canteens, and those are mostly when you go on a long scav or get lost. But if you get lost, you're probably dead anyway.

I was just saying that these realistic timers make it so that being a full time cook/farmer is a legit option.

Just wondering if I missed it, but was there a dramatic increase to the craft timers for armoring? I have 3 hours for a gambeson.

Yes, they were increased. In my opinion they should be increased even more as a familiar level craft.

..Lol what? I was just informed that this is.. what shows up for.. whatever this craft is. It is.. a craft that is apparently lacking any actual crafting?

Also what -is- an iron dummy? I keep thinking of an iron maiden

The 'wooden gill' craft also currently produces nine containers, but the echoes suggest it's intended only to produce one.

For example:

Woodcrafting: carve wooden-gills
Phase 1: 10 seconds
Held or in Room (Consumed): a $woodcolor block of $woodtype wood.
In Room (Reusable): a $woodtype treadle lathe.
Phase 2: 10 seconds
Phase 3: 20 seconds Familiar Woodcraft skill required.
In Room (Reusable): a $metaltype crosscut saw.
Produced: 3 of a tiny, carved $woodtype1 gill.
Failure: a pile of uneven and broken scrap wood.
Phase 4: 20 seconds
Phase 5: 20 seconds Familiar Woodcraft skill required.
Produced: 3 of a tiny, carved $woodtype1 gill.
Failure: a pile of uneven and broken scrap wood.
Phase 6: 0 seconds Familiar Woodcraft skill required.
Produced: 3 of a tiny, carved $woodtype1 gill.
OOC Delay Timer: 15 RL Minutes

According to this you should receive 9 gills after a successful completion. There are in fact x9 wooden gills when you do so. If you attempt to pick the stack up, you will only receive one. Also, attempting to put them in the same container, will sometimes 'disappear' them. I.E. you have a wild cherry gill on a shelf, or in a bin, if you put the one you just picked up into that container it will sometimes not appear inside and just have poofed.

3 hours is pretty steep for poor level armor though, don't you think?

This is your opening, poor level metal helm craft. It even has eye protection. Cherish it.

Yay! Something to keep sparring spears out of my eyes!
I recommend a groin plate for the next one.
It's literally the only two armors we need. xD

Is this craft the only way to produce sinew, or is it also a salvageable thing from general butchering of carcasses? And if so, from which animals, if it's okay to ask?

No other way yet. I needed to get that one IG to have sinew for the bowstrings addition. Sinew will come from muscle-bound animal pieces that are obtained by butcher crafts.

How exactly do you get 'unrefined iron'?

Refine iron-ore to get an unrefined iron ingot. Then you refine iron-ingot to finish it.

Yes, but:

Code: Select all
Blacksmithing: refine iron-ingot
Phase 1:  20 seconds
In Room (Reusable): a $metalforge0.
Held or in Room (Consumed): a bundle of firewood.
Phase 2:  20 seconds Familiar Metalcraft skill required.
Held or in Room (Consumed): 3 of a chunk of bog iron ore.
Phase 3:  20 seconds
Held (Reusable): a $metaltype blacksmith's hammer.
In Room (Reusable): an unrefined iron ingot.
Phase 4:  20 seconds
Held or in Room (Progressed): an unrefined iron ingot.
OOC Delay Timer: 120 RL Minutes
OOC Failure Timer: 60 RL Minutes

And

Code: Select all
refine iron-ingot

You are missing one or more items:

You must hold a $metaltype blacksmith's hammer.
In the room must be an unrefined iron ingot.
In the room or held must be an unrefined iron ingot.

You get a bog-iron blacksmith's hammer.

<****** / ^^^^^^ / ||||||>
refine iron-ingot

Like I said you have to do refine iron-ore first.

Blacksmithing: refine iron-ore
Phase 1: 20 seconds
In Room (Reusable): a $metalforge0.
Held or in Room (Consumed): a bundle of firewood.
Phase 2: 20 seconds Familiar Metalcraft skill required.
Held or in Room (Consumed): 12 of a chunk of bog iron ore.
Phase 3: 20 seconds
Held or in Room (Consumed): an ingot mold carved from $woodtype1 wood.
Produced: an unrefined iron ingot.
OOC Delay Timer: 120 RL Minutes
OOC Failure Timer: 60 RL Minutes
