First Aid:

I hope that first aid never gains the ability to do anything other than bandages, and that that remains the realm of bandages and not much else. That's all it should be.

Medicine:

And when this gets implemented, it'd be nice to see that salves/poultices(representing a singular herb and a decent level of medical talent, mixed poultices/salves(multiple herbs, higher level of talent, and tinctures(multiple herbs, lengthy timers, and the highest level of talent) as the division for cuts/stabs.

Then, tonics/remedies as a means for treating the internal injuries bruises/fractures represent would be nice.

General Idea:

Someone goes to the woods. They forage/scout a bush, using which takes more time, and is more dangerous, but is absolutely free. They produce a bush(scout medical-bush, lavender, chamomile, bergamot, goldenseal, comfrey, and many more), or a copse(scout medicinal-bark-tree, oaks elms and willows), which can be targeted (gather herb-from-bush, or peel medicinal-bark).

Alternatively, many of the bushes can be raised at the gardens, via gardening. This ideally costs by buying the seeds, initially, but produces much more per-timer hour, and is safer.

Then these are taken back to be turned into remedies(dealing with bruises), or the poultice/mixed-poultice/tincture combo for cuts/stabs.

Ideally we'd see the three produced at familiar/talented/adroit, saving 'master' medicines for beta/open.

Thoughts?

ETA:
I can't really argue for orcish medicine being 'equal' here, and I don't think I know -how- to design an orcish medicine being equal. The medicine crafts of Men, in Tolkien, are and -should be- superior to the orcish abilities. Which presents a problem for PVP, but...I can't come up with any reasons why crude orcish ways(which should represent 'poor' at most) should be the equal of even Laketown's medical craft(which should be ordinary/good at least).

ETA:
On first aid...first aid gains every benefit of every medicine produced. Until it's coded differently(a likely low priority), using skilled-restricted medicines requires either your first aid OR your medicine to be talented. If First Aid can use all of them, and produce some of them, it deincentivizes medicine a fair amount. You can sit on adroit first aid and do very well with the current system.

Sounds pretty good to me.

Orcish medicine might not be AS good, but can certainly be close.

agreed. Orkish medicine was shown to be crude yet highly effective during the books. I see low and mid-level healing near identical in quality on both sides, with high level orkish healing being less effective than high level human healing supplies, but being balanced out by being far simpler to manufacture

This sword hardly even a sword. It's kind of really just a piece of metal bent like a sword. Its blade is rather short. Kind of pathetic, really.

Are there any crafts to make pots, pans, skillets, and the like? I've only branched into like, shovels, and picks, and scythes.

They're on the craft list apparently, but I've had considerable (and somewhat bizarre) difficulty finding crafters who can make them IC. :/

This, in the same spirit of break-down weapon, can we have a craft to convert wood hafts into firewood?

Since they're effectively useless.

Re: Crafting Requests

The starting woodcraft skill "scout copse-for-tree" (the craft to get a wooden log) is quite frustrating (as an orc woodcrafting character) because I've combed so many forest rooms north, south, east and west from the orc camp and haven't found any of the copse objects anywhere to be cut down.

I've spent a couple RL hours over the past couple nights going through these rooms, its mainly frustrating because the room descriptions are of a thick, plentiful forest (some rooms with titles like "A Crowded Hardwood Copse") and I'm having to roleplay roaming around as if I can't find "the right tree" or whatever.

I saw copse objects in the forest fairly regularly on an Utterby hunter character I had, but so far in the orc side of the forest I haven't seen anything. I don't know how the copses are loaded but I'd say the frequency needs to go up somehow, unless I'm just having really bad luck.

Someone needs to have 'Forage' for those tree copses, then they show up. If you do not have forage you cannot create Copse objects.

It's possible to use the forage command untrained and get a copse, though you'll find a bunch of sticks first.

Having the skill benefits you by giving you crafts to scout specific kinds of copses (ironwood, for example, which we're all supposed to be after) and plants rather than just accepting the random ones found through the forage command. It also gives you crafts for gathering items from those copses other than wood, I think, such as nuts, berries, leaves, bark, etc.

But other than that, anyone can use forage to find whatever random crap the command rolls. Usually sticks.

So many sticks...

Was doing a little research just now and found a couple things that I think would fit well in the setting. These would be clothier crafts.

Jorvik hoods! There's also a thing called a Dublin hood but obviously there'd have to be a different name. I think the difference is Jorviks are pointed at the top and Dublin are rounded.

Incorrect. I bet for sure that the old SOI code exists somewhere on the net.

The past crafts have been preserved, but none of them are currently implemented in this version of the game.

ETA: Also, yes weapon racks. Especially if they're like tables so you can see what's in them with just "look".

So much of the old code actually got wiped... it was rather sad. I've never been able to find a backup of SOI as it was right before we made the shift to Isengard. If there had been such a thing, no doubt it would have been brought to life post-haste.
