I disagree with points of Jaunt's article, but then again these days I've been drifting more toward old school levels, loot drops, and enjoying vertical design.

That said, this is one of the more professional articles I've read in some time, and is a breath of fresh air to see the community coming up with such things. Kudos!

A mutilated little orc murmurs, nodding as he mutters,
"I fought good today. Yuh. Fought good, 'specially for bein' the kitchen-snaga. Yuh, I did."

Thanks, Icarus. I've just published the second part of the article, which has a ton of examples on how games in our genre can apply Horizontal Design to equipment crafting:

Check out SOI's very own player-and-ex-RPA extraordinaire, Arucard's new article. In it, he talks about better ways for staff to engage their players and get them to take part in the activities that staff wants them to. I think his advice is very useful for clanleads too, so make sure to check it out!

This week we've published an article from ex-SOI Economy Staffer, Jeshin. In it, he argues that there's maybe never been more potential for RPIs in the gaming market than right now, and talks about what we can do to draw in more new players.

Check it out!

Also, don't forget about our cash contest this month. It's really a rather easy one!

Can SOI win two months in a row?

This week, we have an article from SOI's own Icarus, on the need for RPIs to lower the barriers to entry, the learning curve, to retain new players. It's part one of a two part article, so check it out!

The second part of Icarus' article is published, speaking towards a no-brainer solution to the standard learning curve problem, that every game in our genre could benefit from. Take a look!

Congrats to Shadows of Isildur for Radioactivejesus putting in a strong tolkien inspired orc concept into our contest for July.

He took 3rd place.

Too bad they tried to force me to remake my character, after hours of play, because my name was "close" to an admin's name and they didn't like it. It was a good game, until then.
