Re: Utterby Wish List
The blanket Rez policy is because that there are /so/ many ways that folks can die, and right now about 2/3rds of them are because boars and crap are seeing people from across nomob zones. And snakes keep coming back, even after I purge them from the BP.
20 awesome Orc chars died. A lot after stepping out the gate and getting spammed by spiders. It sucks; it's alpha. My staff doesn't have time to do case by case rezzes, we /really/ don't. It's the risk of playing the game at this early stage.

Re: Utterby Wish List
20 dead orcs already? Good lord.
Re: Utterby Wish List
We approved them rather quickly. And then kept approving. I think some people went through 3 orcs in a day.

Re: Utterby Wish List
There is a line of nomobs north of utterby past the fields now. No guarantees it actually works.

Re: Utterby Wish List
A tanning pit, a forge, etc., so people can practice their crafts.
Re: Utterby Wish List
So... I take it falling off of the palisade is fatal? Honestly, I was thinking about trying it.
Edit: Ah, looks like the exits were taken out to allow you to walk off of the palisade. Nevermind.

Shop NPC's offering and buying various items and materials.
Patio tables in the patio / courtyard of the Inn.
Some kind of.. hunting/woodsman yard/area (since bodies and lumber are flippin' EVERYWHERES) which has..
A crafting place with a tanning pit.
A crafting place with a workbench and a lathe.
A refuse pile (even just in room desc so there's a place to throw offal and crap into it ICly)

Fishing people need to start with gut unscaled-fish. It's currently a general-cooking craft.
Re: Utterby Wish List
Could the inn be set nomob? It keeps getting invaded by striding, fish-lipped spinsters and whatnot, which is really of no use and just adds to the spam of the place. Every time an NPC walks in, you're like "oh who's th-- ah, just an NPC." Bit annoying.

I assume the Lodge (which is currently on shut down and locked) has some of the crafting stuff in it, but yeah, a public area would be kind of nice.

How about a town well?
Even though Utterby sits right on a river. Riverside settlements still had wells, historically speaking, as rivers aren't always a clean / easily accessible source of water.

Re: Utterby Wish List
This is true, especially about the unclean water from the river. Historically, people made Small Ale, which is an ale made from already used malt. The process boiled the water and added nutrients to the ale. It wasn't nearly as alcoholic, so everyone drank it, even children, more than water.Beyondtheveil wrote:How about a town well?

It was generally bought by businesses to give to their employees to quench their thirst.
There is small ale in the game, and crafts for it, but you have to branch to them, so it might be a while before it really starts to show up in the game.
People didn't trust water enough to drink it.
Re: Utterby Wish List
Will there be clan forums?

walking off the palisade wasn't fatal, though it did indirectly lead to my first character's death.Winthrope wrote:So... I take it falling off of the palisade is fatal? Honestly, I was thinking about trying it.

Well anyway I think a sparring ring with a few practice weapons would be a good idea, so the fighters can practice their combat skills.
Re: Utterby Wish List
I'm going to repeat this to add: it is apparently impossible to cook fish without one.Hazgarn wrote:A roasting grate in the public kitchens maybe?

Re: Utterby Wish List
There is a training yard. You can likely guess where it is.

My wish is for the city rooms (village rooms, w/e) to be lit at night.

Decorating tools to make our newbie gear look cooler than it is!! Surely one of us grizzly badasses can etch/embroider with a passable level of skill!
Re: Utterby Wish List
Emoting while sleeping/unconscious.

Re: Utterby Wish List
This is something I have occasionally wished for, in previous versions of SOI. For dreaming!soiacc wrote:Emoting while sleeping/unconscious.
I think a lot of other requests would take priority over this, though.
Re: Utterby Wish List
A place to acquire fabric and chisels and various other crafting supplies not currently included in the newbie shop would be nice.
A way to join clans without waiting for overswamped staff to be available to give the thumbs-up would probably also be handy. More clans/jobs would also be neat.
I'd also like to see some 'goals' for non-combat characters -- things people can work towards when staff is not around. The town leadership wants X of Y; completing the order will have benefit Z. Something like Atonement's repair/excavation crafts could also fulfill this role. Just something to make us feel like we aren't spinning our wheels, I guess.
