Questions and Answers

The following took place in October 2011 as a Question & Answer session,

Here's the initial questions we covered, with extras at the end. This is unapologetically long.

1. What's the future of the guest lounge? What are your thoughts on improving it to get more players?
2. Are the staff going to support old clans that were alive in SoI2 in SoI3? or do they wish to start new ones and immerse the players into them.
3. Whats Kites thoughts now on a pwipe? Would it be best for the game considering the whole new fresh start. Whats his thoughts.
4. Any insight to any event that might give some pc's who wish to carry over a reason to move to Angrenost? Or will it just be up to their own imaginations?
5. What are the measures of preventing a” good ole boy club” flocking from MT and reverting to an old way of thinking in just a new setting?
6..What is the military layout/structure/role in Angrenost? Divisions/any possible mercenary subcontracts?
7.What will the tolerance of darker roles/less than savory involvement in this new atmosphere be? Any thoughts towards down the road splitting the sphere for a revamped osgiliath/ morgul conflict?
8.Will rpp roles be written up for agrenost somewhat soon as to give the playerbase an idea whats being offered?
9.Any arms and armor restrictions/rarity in game? IE steel platmail/chainmail or mastercraft steel weapons/ hopefully lack there of
10. Will there be a pre-opening or a limited playing period of sorts for people who are residents of Angrenost so they can establish their community and something of their cultural identity before the influx of old characters arrive?
11. Will there be incentives for people with old characters to start a new character to try and encourage people to play locals? I'm not sure what kind of incentive but something that might attract someone who is on the fence or maybe leaning towards bringing over an old character.
12.When I heard someone suggest allowing local residents to play in Angrenost before other players, I thought it might make things seem more fair if outsiders got a small area open to themselves to roleplay traveling to the new area before it fully opened. Would this be feasible?

Kite says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Hello everyone and thanks for coming along. Apologies for the odd hour
of day for many of you. We've had a lot of questions submitted and
Frigga has come up with a bunch of answers to start discussions that
I'll join in on. Before that happens though I want to give you a
progress update and set a few rules."

"OK so many of you will know very well that general mass emoting and
talking and petitioning can become a nightmare. I don't like making you
all shut up or stop having fun though so my rule for this meeting is
simple - if you have a question or comment put your hand up. If you want
to talk to each other, use whisper. If you want to emote, cheer, boo,
etc, feel free. Respect the order of things please purely because that
    keeps it fair."

"We have nearly 800 rooms built. Unlike the sprawling SOI2, we are only
building rooms you will see. We are pretty much finished with building
the Quay, the Salt Mines, the north half of the abandoned countryside
east of the Angren river and the path from Orthanc to the south Gate of
the Ring-wall. We have started on the trail up the mountains and have
been plugging away at the three sections of the Ring-wall around the
Gate with its Beacon on top. One of these sections is for the Garrison
to be based from; one is mainly NPC Families, shops and Fellows; one is
a mostly player-inhabited section designed by a Master Mason and
architect before it was abandoned and given over to Outsiders and
    cityworkers."

"I feel we are halfway towards having built enough rooms in the Ring-wall
sections. We are ONLY building areas that are relevant to the game.
Every four months or so we will release an expansion that will contain
more building work, as well as more fun things. We have not started on
new objects or new NPC but we ARE planning them out now."

"The player builders assisting the staff to build the initial map have
gone the way of volunteers - a minority are absolutely fantastic and
committed and talented and the majority promised much but delivered
little then disappeared. This is the nature of volunteer work and
personally I've given up being bothered by it. it means we can never
schedule of course, or time our efforts particularly well. I think still
that we can open a closed beta in March - more on that from Frigga in a
bit. Every single person who volunteers and contributes speeds us up.
Every single person who volunteers then does sod all slows us down -
especially those who say they are doing a load of work and are allocated
that work then you never hear from them again. I imagine this is a
familiar story to anyone else who has worked for other MUDs or volunteer
    games. We're no different here."

"Of course building is one thing, but most of the time and work has gone
on the design, documentation on the staff wiki, research, arguing back
and forth, getting the new place to feel right and work for us all. What
I am extremely pleased with and relieved about is that we finally have
just about everything feeling spot on. A load of us can now imagine this
place as one, and people and architecture and imaginations are beginning
to meld, just as always happens when you've made the right choices. I
feel very pleased with what we've got now and I feel we have managed to
spend this time doing things properly this time and refusing to cut
corners or give in to pressure to cut corners or be stupid about things.
I am particularly pleased that we've managed to hire an experienced
military player to staff by the name of Alatar who in hist first 2 days
managed to read everything we had about the military and rewrite it the
way we needed it to be. Angrenost is beginning to feel right."

"Michael Martinez, the respected Tolkien scholar has 30 pages of content
from us to review, when he has time to do so. We're all a bit nervous of
course but I think this is a courageous move and hopefully will pay off
with good advice, correctings, steering us well, and you never know he
might like it too. In the meantime, expect a load of player content
going live after these logs are posted so you can start reading in great
detail some of the stuff the player-builders have already seen and some
entirely new material. Don't forget if you go to the Gallery you can
already see a few maps too. Go here for that
    http://www.shadowsofisildur.co.uk/angrenostgallery/index.php?/category/7.

"So any questions on general progress before we go to Frigga and the
    others?

A golden-haired, tiny male hobbit says in Westron,
"What do you mean by, only building rooms you will see? In particular, as
I'm fully intending, I don't want to feel pressured into actually
residing in a city. Will there be opportunity for living in the
wilderness? Or does 'each room have a purpose'."

Kite says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Ah sorry, that's my bad terminology. By rooms I mean any area you can
move into, such as a forest room, a lake room, a cave room, a city room
etc. So that includes ALL places. Apologies."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"We mean that many things that were redundant and players didn't see -
like NPC shoprooms, areas that will now be replaced by coding rather
    than require a physical space."

A sun-browned male hobbit says in Westron, sounding like Jimmy Nail,
"Is Quay being pronounced 'Kway' or 'Key?'.

Kite tells a sun-browned male hobbit in Westron, sounding like Michael
Caine,
"That depends on your culture and background old chap. I would pronounce
    it Key. Thanks for asking."

Now on to Frigga's speech:

A fair, golden-braided young woman asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"I'll be going through the questions people posed to the general
discussion board. The first of which was - What's the future of the
    guest lounge?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"My personal idea going forward for the GL closer to opening, would be to
open it back up as a museum, however to open it up as a museum
specifically about SOI3's Angrenost. Something that will allow players,
both returning and new to explore and learn more about the new world, to
indeed learn about important NPCs, names of places, that kind of thing.

A fair, golden-braided young woman asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"So - on to Any insight to any event that might give some pc's who wish
to carry over a reason to move to Angrenost? Or will it just be up to
    their own imaginations?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"As this will likely be the first plot those old PCs experience, I'm
uncertain about commenting about it now to ruin the surprise, perhaps
closer to opening something can be revealed in a newsletter. I
definitely imagine there being an event of camera of some kind to
proceed the opening, obviously, however, what each individual PC feels
about that, is up to their player."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"One question was about do we imagine a "moving plot" where existing PCs
heading over get a chance to RP actually doing the moving."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"I personally think that's a great idea, it seemed to work well on the
move from the old Mines to the new Mordor, at least for those that
participated. What exactly all that might entail needs to still be
discussed, but I think as a concept, it's a good idea."

A fair, golden-braided young woman asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"What are the measures of preventing a - good ole boy club - flocking
from MT and reverting to an old way of thinking in just a new setting?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Angrenost society, stemming from its rich Numenorean history view
-Outsiders- with distrust, assumes they all arrive in varying degrees to
plunder the wealth of knowledge stored within the city's walls and in
the minds of her people. Familiar relations amidst the tight-knit
community and low population ensure a strong pre-existing social
structure where any arriving from the outside will need to fit into the
new social heiarachy. Those who do not get on board with the new
expected behaviors and regulations will quickly find themselves sliding
down the social ladder, and their career and their business suffering
for their perceived disrespect and disregard to their new hosts."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Quite simply, those that choose to have their PC ignore that they have
moved to an entirely new place with entirely new social rules, a new
social hierarchy, and an older, richer culture than they are used to
will suffer ICly for decision. Obviously there will be growing pains,
and folks will need to learn to adjust. We aren't talking about initial
faux pas or mistakes, but the constant and blatant disregard for the new
surroundings will begin to have consequences ICly."

A fair, golden-braided young woman asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"However, I'll answer - Divisions/any possible mercenary subcontracts?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"While there will not be support for clans of -Mercenaries- in the sense
of paramilitary groups not subject to the rules and regulations of the
Army who show up when RPTs are scheduled (this doesn't really seem to
work, and causes a lot of grief.) There is the idea of a -less savory-
Army division called the Hu-Gador, pulled from people called -the
    Branded.-."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"The Branded - former prisoners of war and dark skinned Gondorians from
Harondor near the Poros turned in by neighbours as suspected Harad
sympathizers as the peace fell apart. They now toil either in the
dreaded Salt Mines or in their own company within the Army, taking the
most difficult and most unpleasant jobs to eventually work towards their
freedom and the illustrious goal of some level of trust by the
    citizenry."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Angrenost has no stereotypical jail where citizens accused or found
guilty of crimes languish in cells being fed and cared for on the taxes
of other citizens. Here the accused toil and sweat in the dark,
labyrinthine underground of the Salt Mines, where the walls seem to
bleed and hotter than the dark belly of some dwarf's furnace. Men and
women alike work to earn their freedom through their labour, sometimes
dying or severely injuring themselves in the process."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Well, as I was tooling around in there earlier, updating something, I'll
even give a teaser with one of the room descrips."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Here a select number of scarf-masked workers gather toxic, rotten
sulphur from lemon yellow encrustations and scab-like pustules that rise
from the shore of a stagnant, enclosed underground pond. Grunts, groans,
and swearing resonate throughout the area as the indentured gather the
offensively putrid material by hand or with simple wooden tools,
carrying it off towards the northwest and beyond. Using torches or
lanterns to gather a better glimpse reveals the rainbow of colors
creating the sedimentary rock that forms flowstones and stalactites all
over the wide, expansive ceiling, many dripping slippery coppery-green
mineral water onto the floor below. Below the stalactites sits a
singular, central growth of weathered mineral alum, gathered by a
tight-knit group of workers. A single-file pathway leads to a
brine-flooded cavern eastwards, a short amount of wading inevitably
needed to make any sort of true progress."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"These are the two areas set aside for "less savory" type RP. Meaning,
less than savory RP, ie crime that is discovered will quickly be
punished, however the Salt Mines are set aside as a place for people to
RP and interact rather than languishing in a jail cell."

A fair, golden-braided young woman says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"At current, there are no plans to revert to opening a second sphere for
players. IE - no plans to bring back a secondary area for PCs to
    actively play orcs etc."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will rpp roles be written up for agrenost somewhat soon as to give the playerbase an idea whats being offered?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Posting of RPP roles will wait until closer to opening, a lot of discussions still need to take place or be finished before they can really be posted."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Any arms and armor restrictions/rarity in game?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Going forward, weapons and armour will be appropriately considered for things like weight, wear and tear, repair costs, construction costs, time of construction, amount of iron etc needed, skill required to make and maintain, plus the endurance drain and the mobility problems inherent in heavy armour."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Discussions of canon have led to discussion that mail was the most common form of armour, and therefore except for rare occasion amidst the very high ranking or rich, mail will be the most common form of armor seen for most Army members."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Also, weapon skills will be changing their names to properly reflect the actual weapon they represent rather than ephemeral names like "Medium Blunt" that make discussing your PC's knowledge of them in an IC manner rather awkward."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will there be a pre-opening or a limited playing period of sorts for people who are residents of Angrenost so they can establish their community and something of their cultural identity before the influx of old characters arrive?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Personally, I'm all for this idea. I believe that having a Beta of a few weeks, or even a month, or longer where the only PCs allowed in game are those that are making new PCs that are native Angrenostians. I think that's the best way to get a core of players introduced to the new Families, the new clans, the new society, the new mythos, and thus have a core of people who can help new players (or players bringing in "Outsiders") best adjust to their life there. It will also allow staff to focus on the new area for a while, working out any issues/glitches/bugs before introducing the likely complicated questions of re-introducing old PCs."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will there be incentives for people with old characters to start a new character to try and encourage people to play locals? I'm not sure what kind of incentive but something that might attract someone who is on the fence or maybe leaning towards bringing over an old character."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Here's a few I thought about:."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"1 - The ability to play in the native-only Beta."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"2 - The ability to create a background of having kinship, however distant with the network of other native PCs, NPCs, and vNPCs. A background of growing up in the curious, wondrous Numenorean built city of Angrenost."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"3 - Some roles might be open to native born citizens only, but even if not, a native-born citizen will always have the inherent advantage in things like employment."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"What about the government form of Angrenost? How it will be structured and which ones are the levels that will be open for PCs (eventually) and reserved for IMM control?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"The head of the government of Angrenost is Lord Celunnos, ultimately responsible for the welfare of the entire Angren valley and Angrenost fortress. Ultimately, the Lord's word is law."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"To the end of enforcing his protection of the people, he entrusts Angrenost's care to two bodies: the Twelve Companies of the Garrison, and the Watch. The Watch keeps the civil law, conducts the common criminal investigations, and disgraced and willful members of the two corp find themselves as guards over the prisoners of the Salt Mines."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"PCs will be able to join both the Army and the Watch - Ranks to be discussed later."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Amidst the economic matters of Angrenost, the Patriarchs of the Seven Families each have a son or daughter on the Fellowship Council, a body that votes on economic matters amidst the artisans of the city that produce the finest handicrafts, accepts or declines applications for new apprenticeships, and oversees the quality of work produced by their members."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"In time, membership in the Fellowship Council may be extended to Master PCs."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"The non-Fellowed Family members, the hunters, farmers, and foresters to name a few have no official council, finding such things overly fastidious for a labouring man's time. Instead, they generally settle their issues at the eaves of one another's shops, or more popularly, in the Market Square on Market Days, much to the chagrin or amusement to other citizens enjoying the emotional displays."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"The next question was about races, and what races will be available."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"We don't have an exact answer for that as of yet, as this is something that needs to be further discussed. However - as to the question of "evil" races AKA that people who make Branded, I don't believe the plan will be to code an extensive list of races for that. As - the point of that role is not to have extensive boosts or other things, but - to experience a different type of RP."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"And personally, I'm kind of against half-orcs. As - the first time they are mentioned or even hinted at in canon indicates they were bred by Saruman, so - there's no real indication such things really existed before then."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will current and new players be able to 'apply' for specific roles prior to the release date determined by staff to give Agrenost some clear direction/founding to ensure no floundering."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"I don't imagine current PCs applying for roles before they arrive in Angrenost, either they will pack up their stuff, and fit into where their people are being placed, or try to find a place for themselves."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"I do see RPP roles being posted up for those who wish to join the native-only Beta, as - not having floundering is kind of the big point of the native Beta."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"How will player home/shop ownership work? Any idea on prices? Entitlements or disadvantages of different classes?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"There was a bit of discussion about this in the past, but I'm not sure we came to any solid conclusion of yet."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"However, the idea is about mortgaging or renting properties rather than PCs flatout owning them, for a few reasons."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"1 - That means that players who "own" property need to continue to invest money into their homes, just like someone does IRL. As coding in the full rigours of home ownership - leaky rooves, leaky pipes, new paint jobs would be difficulty, and no fun to deal with IC, money is the easier way to deal with the reality of that."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"2 - Space especially within the Ring is limited, and having properties mortgaged rather than owned, means that if someone stops logging in, and thus stops paying their mortgage for a certain period of time, then you pack up their personal belongings, put them aside somewhere, and rent out the property again. No more urban sprawl continually building new places where in reality there isn't room."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Onto the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Various Classes."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"I imagine there are five tiers of society."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"1 - The Upper Class - Made of up Master Fellows, High Ranking Officers, and the Highest Family Members."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"And yes, these next statements are written in the first person."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"If you are born at this level, you obviously are "the 1 percent" You will be prime to pick the best apprenticeships, be on the fast track to promotions, you likely live within the Ring. As such however, your status comes with the highest expectations of behavior and responsibility. It will be the easiest for you to fall from social grace, because the most eyes are on you all the time."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"2 - Upper Middle Class - Enlisted Men of the Army."

A lithe river spirit (Legolin) says in Westron, in the low, thundering drawl of running water,
"The once a month shop buyouts are going away too."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Few people are born at this level, between the Middle and Upper echelons of society. The few that are come from families where someone either married "down" or "up" and likely - one likely parent is a Fellow and one is not."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"The large majority, then, are Enlisted Men of the Army or Watch, whom came from middle class families. Under the steadfast guidance of Lord Celunnos have dedicated their lives to the protect of the people and knowledge of Angrenost. In return for such selflessness, those who serve in the Army are afforded a wide amount of respect from their fellow citizens, and thus higher social standing, however their emptier pocketbooks keep them from generally being members of the true elite, except amidst the highest calibers of officers."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"As so much respect is awarded to members of the armed forces, those that severely deviate from the expectations of society easily find themselves in disgrace, with little other opportunities, besides serving in the Salt Guard."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"3 - The Middle Class - Labouring Men and Women of the Families, Native Farmers."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"You are the average citizen. Your life is neither particularly privileged nor exceptionally difficult. Most will likely learn the same profession as their mother or father, and follow their Families' line of work as a fisherman, a blacksmith, a hunter, a farmer, etc. You live near the Market, or out in the fields. With enough dedication and hard work, if you manage to join the Army or a Fellowship, you might indeed ascend to the next social class. Your lower status allows you to enjoy greater freedom without as much judgement, but limits your pocketbook."

You overhear a lithe river spirit whispering in Westron to a small, dusky-haired male hobbit, in the low, thundering drawl of running water,
"They will be daily again."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"4 - Lower Middle Class - Salt Guards."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"The Upper Class views you as little more than the scum you watch, though would never say so in public. Even odder are the men, especially those of the Ondos Family that volunteer for the job, its said to keep an eye on the Family investment in the workings."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"On the rare occasion you are allowed furlough outside the "Stink" you will find far more sympathy amidst the Middle Class, at least at the tavern, as nearly all men are equal after a few rounds of hearty ale or sweat mead."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"You do not make enough money to truly be considered a member of the Middle Class, and except by extremely rare chance, no Family, even your own would likely take you back as a non-Fellowed laborer. You will likely do this job until you retire or more likely - die."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"5 - The Ylfrim and the Angolben."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Ylfrim, btw, is the Sindarin group name for the Branded we discussed earlier, the Angolben means "Stench People" the freemen and women who work in the area around the Salt Mines during the work considered too dangerous, or frankly smelly to do closer to the city."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"You are the lowest of the low. You are the Untouchables of Angrenost. You do the jobs no one else is willing to do. Most of your life is surrounded by stench or death. You are despised and rivaled by the classes above you, they think you are the scum of the earth. You will have to struggle to prove yourself your entire life, you will likely have little money, and fewer prospects to make any. However, you have the best opportunities to involve yourself in the shadier aspects of life."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will there be trade? taxes? will there be a lack or excess amount of supplies depending on player involvement?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Yes, there will be taxes, assessed as a flat tax on shop sales. This will be the easiest, least confusing and fairest way to assess them. The taxes collected from players (and the vNPC population, obviously) go as they do IRL to support the Army, the Watch, and the general upkeep of the city."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Yes, there will be trade. Most trade with other areas nearby will take place during Market Days, the major day IC of trade and business for the citizens of Angrenost, where farmers arrive from the fields to sell their wares, and caravans of traders arrive from other areas nearby to sell and proffer goods."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"There will also be opportunities to import rarer goods through NPC warehouses of the Seven Families who have relationships with the Merchant Houses of Minas Tirith. These warehouses may indeed also buy items as well to export. There will also be, in the future, the opportunity for more adventurous traders to make the hazardous return trip to Minas Tirith and return with orders from other PCs."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"A goal is to have player involvement with the economy take more of a precedence, so, yes, there will be more emphasis placed on PC production rather than NPC shops always being willing and able to fulfill all needs."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will there be availability to 'move' the gameworld through player action?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"I'll let Kite take that one."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will staff have set NPC's set up as VIP's?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Yes, there will be VIP NPCs - amidst them, the Commander, Captains of the Army and Watch, and the Patriarchs of the Seven Families."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Public Information about them will be available, the information that any citizen of Angrenost would know about them. However, just like real people, all of someone's motivations, dreams, hopes, ambitions, thoughts wouldn't be known by everyone all the time."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Some of that information, is the information I imagine going into the future GL."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Staff knowledge of these people will obviously be much more extensive and documented, to ensure that staff actions are kept in-line with the vision of that persona."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"As for the hint at concerns about mass executions, except for capital offenses, most would indeed enjoy themselves a long, hot torturous stay in the Salt Mines going forward."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) asks in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Will the economy be fixed - will prices/wages be reexamined? will coin-hording be no longer quite so easy due to realistic 'drains' on a PC's purse?"

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"I imagine prices fluctuating with the seasons as well as with excess or want, however, the finer points of the coding for that are still in discussion."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"As for coin-hording, see answers above about some of the ways that PCs will be expected to pay money for their upkeep. Another way will be that the majority of homes nor businesses will not contain full working kitchens and thus most eating will take place in taverns or food stalls."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Money will not actually have an appropriate weight as well - so, people won't be able to carry it around with them all the time."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"Which is probably dangerous, and foolish anyway."

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
""will now" rather, all that, and my first typo."

A fair, golden-braided young woman laughs.

A fair, golden-braided young woman (Frigga) says in Westron, frigid like Frigga,
"You will also now have wear and tear where items will require upkeep and care, thus another way people will need to utilize money to upkeep their lifestyle."

A fair, golden-braided young woman curtseys.

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Right you have a choice - either we answer the rest of the questions now (clans, military, player wipe, gameworld and player actions) or we go to your questions first."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Right then off we go."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Clans! Ok so we have had a long and arduous discussion around this. I think that all this energy on the new place is quite offputting to the veterans with characters who want to move those characters. There will NOT be a player wipe of any kind. I've destroyed enough dreams already thanks. What will happen is that we will give you all enough info to start thinking of why you would move, if you would move as a group, if clans will remain going, etc. This will start happening really quickly and Huan will switch back on Hobbitmail too shortly. While we WILL limit what you can bring with you and the like, we will NOT simply drop existing characters. One of the reasons s that we need that history and background to come over. We want the colours you weave not to disappear. However, this does mean you have to be patient while we move info to the general public domain."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"We will support clans moving sort of - you will all need to talk to the other members of the clans that remain and see what everyone wants to do, then come directly to us to talk about that. We will do what we can to support you. I do not want to do any more harm to you lot than has already been done. We will also support you retiring a current character, trying a new one and then unretiring that same character later. However don't expect to unretire less than six months since you retired - no jumping the queue for beta and then instantly retiring or dying."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"We will NOT support a clan from ye olde place that has one player only left in it. You need to show clans want to stick together so we can support you. As for individuals moving over, hell, come and join us, even if you will need to start anew to some extent. We will make sure enough info is placed on the website in the next few weeks for you to start plotting WHY and HOW and IF."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Alright, as for the military structure."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Basically Angrenost is going to have a massive chain of command which umbrellas down from the Commander, so everyone will be moving toward the same goals, which will prevent a lot of the problems we had with clashing with the northerners/Gondorians in Soi2."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"I've written up a fair chunk of documentation, focusing on making everything simple, straightforward, newbie friendly and easy to follow and keep speed with. Basically it's going to be like the days of the old Eastern Garrison/Vanguard, except better :D."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"There will also be the introduction of commissions, which I think is very relevant to the question of military structure, as it will give more of a distinction between enlisted men and officers, instead of officers just being common-blooded, veteran characters who've survived X amount of battles and have some sweet skills to outlast everyone else."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"I'm sure the documentation for all of this will be coming out shortly on the forums.. or elsewhere. It's going to be fantastic. Basically, players will be introduced into one of the twelve companies mentioned, and we'll kick off from there. There will also be other roles for players to slot into, for example the Hu-Gador that are sort of similar to the Earmhyde, though we've taken a different slant on their customs. To prevent playerbase separation, we've built all military areas to be more centralized/communal to ensure we don't have players being left out of the mix."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"I always heard lamenting (and I admit, I lamented myself) of the old Vanguard being the best of the days for the military. So I've kept this in mind in designing the military structure. Now, just to touch briefly on how the spheres will all conjoin on the military side of things."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Northern/Caolafon and Gondorian/Amdir military PCs will be separated into respective platoons in order to overcome cultural and language barriers. They will all still be under the same chain of command, and will all eat together, live together, fight together and die together. HOWEVER, this also gives the players a chance to flesh out their respective platoons and gain reputations, honour, etc. For example, 1 Platoon have gotten themselves into trouble while on leave with the watch and garner a reputation for being heavy drinkers, smokers, womanizers and trouble-makers in general. It all gives further depth to the military aspect of things that we were really sorely missing with the Battalions format."

Kite (Kite) exclaims in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Right that was Alatar. Let's open up to player questions and say first - only military ones for Alatar. HANDS UP!"

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Whisper away."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Right the first in the queue starting asking using say please."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"The rest of you look at where you are in the queue and fire your questions as soon as the last one has been answered please. I realise some of you have been waiting several hours."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) asks in Westron,
"You mention caolafon regiments. And leadership. Are we having the Marshwardens shift over in their entirety? Including the NPC leaders? What happens to caolafon?"

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Good question, alright."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"The Caolafon bit is for Frigga."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"She can answer that when she reads these logs ok? The other bits are for you Alatar."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"To put it simply, the Commander requests reinforcements from Gondor via the fortresses in the Undeeps. Gondor then responds by sending units (in our case, the March Wardens and the Battalion) to Angrenost to suppliment the troops already there. These reinforcements do not comprise of any rank lower than Private, as skilled soldiers are required. Those of rank are reduced to Private, regardless of experience. The Commander's rationale behind the demotion of veteran troops is that they will have to fit into a previously established chain of command appropriately, and serve in an operational environment which is foreign to them all."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"In closed-beta, experienced players will likely be presented opportunities to pick up junior command positions within the enlisted ranks (Corporals/Sergeants) to ensure that the transition into Angrenost is smooth."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) asks in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"As for what happens to Caolafon, that'll be dealt with by Frigga. Does this answer the question?"

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) says in Westron,
"Well... it was never really very clear whether the Marshwardens come under some sort of Gondorian military umbrella, but yes, thank you."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Well, regardless of prior arrangements, they will in Angrenost, to prevent confusion, conflict and such."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Also, note, if PCs wouldn't want to be demoted, then I'd say they'd stay away from a posting in Angrenost. But it's the Commander's men, and he requires them all to fit into his regime."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) asks kite in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Next question?"

A honey-haired, lithe female hobbit (Brian-Guest) says in Westron, "What part will NPCs have to play in the military side of things, as allies that as, not as enemies? Personally I'm really hoping none, but I'm interested to hear what the thoughts are so far."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) tells a honey-haired male hobbit in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Alrighty! NPCs will likely take the upper hierarchy in the chain of command. Therefore they will likely not participate in routine patrols, ect, they will however assist in ensuring the chain of command runs its course. They'll provide direction and counsel, much like the old Vanguard, when there were NPC leaders in place there."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"And no NPCs to command all the damn time. In the Fall we had no NPCs until the last night and then nobody knew how to command them.. *cough*."

A honey-haired, lithe female hobbit (Brian-Guest) says in Westron,
"That's mostly what I wanted to know. I am a happy hobbit if NPCs are a non-feature in combat actions, RPTs and all that."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) tells a honey-haired male hobbit in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Just on a sidenote, we're not banning all players from climbing the ranks into commissioned ranks. If players show enough drive, are committed and possess good leadership they'll be given the chance to come through an academy of sorts, to recieve their commission. More on this in the documentation. But it's much like West Point for America, Sandhurst for UK, and Duntroon for Australia."

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) asks in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Okay, hands up. Who has a question ready?"

A delicate-shouldered female hobbit (Gtkaca-Guest) asks in Westron,
"1.out of the social classes, where will outsiders initially fit when they first come? ... 2.what would be Angrenost main trading product anyway for future trade with MT?"

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) asks in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"Sorry, just military questions for now. Was there anyone else with a military-related question?"

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) says in Westron,
"Any idea of how many people we're talking about? VNPCs accounted for."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) asks in Westron,
"And how those numbers will be represented IG?"

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) says in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"For the military? I believe the numbers were around 700, all companies included."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Yeah we have all numbers written down for everything. I will make sure that is made public knowledge in the next few days."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"It was worked out when I looked at fields and if we would need crop imports etc etc."

Kite (Kite) asks in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Any other military questions?"

A rotund, raven-haired female hobbit (Firesong-Guest) asks in Westron, singing a fiery song,
"I'm curious about how the military is going to be run... not related to rank structure, but with regulations, standing orders, and such.. Is that also to be covered once the document is released (if so, I'm happy to wait)?"

Kite is excited by the new military being a lot like the dangerous days of olde thyme.

A fragile female hobbit (Alatar-Guest) tells a rotund, raven-haired female hobbit in Westron, sounding like the Amazing Alatar,
"That's a good question, though mainly regulations and standing orders would be addressed either through documentation or IG. If you're familiar with the old system of the Garrison/Vanguard/Anything pre-battalion, you'll know that rules and regulations are a lot more simple. I'd hate to hark on about 'the good old days' and wave my cane about for all you young pups and newer players to understand, which you most likely -won't-, but the way it was done in the past was simple and effective, and I tend to keep it like this."

A rotund, raven-haired female hobbit (Firesong-Guest) says in Westron, singing a fiery song,
"Well, simplicity is good as long as order is retained. If the necessary structure is balanced with being the Free Men of the West, I'm a happy hobbit."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Ok let's move on to all other questions. Thank you Alatar and all."

A delicate-shouldered female hobbit (Gtkaca-Guest) asks in Westron,
"1.out of the social classes, where will outsiders initially fit when they first come? ... 2.what would be Angrenost main trading product anyway for future trade with MT?"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Good questions.. ok."

Kite (Kite) tells a delicate-shouldered female hobbit in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Well, young padwan, Outsiders are an important part of the Angrenost attitude and life. Being isolated since the Calenardhon locals moved towards the Undeeps, they have got used to a decaying place slowly declining in all ways, but looking like perhaps they might finally be getting a nice boost of numbers. Outsiders are people from anywhere else at all and they tend to end up working as cityworkers like maids and sweepers and pipe cleaners and cooks etc and living in their own section. Outsiders though are also people like ADs and northmen and even Gondorians from elsewhere. What i want to try and get people to understand is that we are not PUNISHING existing characters who want to move over by demoting or limiting what they can bring over - what I am trying to do is make it so that you all understand we have a place that has its own rules and its own ways of doing things and we want players to understand that and believe it to be real, not arrive in an empty and dead place with no sense of having existed without changing much for 3000 years."

Kite (Kite) tells a delicate-shouldered female hobbit in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"So Outsiders will fit exactly where they prove that SHOULD fit. Fellows will fit into Fellowships; Military will fit in the Army; farmers will fit into the Surrounds, etc. It's about what you can offer and what you bring. Outsiders does not equal hostility from the locals at all though it possibly sounds that way."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"It's really important to understand that nobody is seeking to punish existing characters - but you need to be afforded the respect to move into the new place and believe it is real. Simply allowing you to move in and take over everything is completely unrealistic."

Kite (Kite) tells a delicate-shouldered female hobbit in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Trading.."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Well the trading thing is complex and I have a document full of stuff about that and related matters. Will you trust me to move it over shortly to the public area of the site? Trade has been considered. Believe me, we'll be exporting a lot of salt ;P."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) asks in Westron,
"A) What Fellowships are active in Angrenost? How strong is the fellowship monopoly on high end crafts? How many masters do we have and how come they have enough of a market to justify the presenc eof a master in a military city/town where even supplies are not always readily available? b) How do Dunadain - particularly noble house members we're used to seeing IG, fit in the heirarchy? c) Where do non Master fellows fit in the heirarchy?"

Kite (Kite) asks in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"OK I am not the right person to answer about Fellowships. Frigga is possibly. Does anyone else on staff want to take this now or can I pass this to Frigga offline?"

Kite looks around at a lithe river spirit and a little plant with yellow flowers and the others.

Kite (Kite) tells a stout male hobbit in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"What I will say is that Angrenost is a place that is about learning and knowledge far more than you might think. It contains a great deal of knowledge that was left here.."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Right we will pass that to Frigga and Phoenix as suggested by Legs. One more thing."

Kite (Kite) tells a stout male hobbit in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"An excerpt from something that might make more sense of Felloows and Masters being here at all - Only when the shining blades of Gondor landed too late to the far north and the Witch-king was driven away to Mordor did Angrenost empty of refugees who returned to shattered homes and a burnt remnant of their kingdoms. Many though left behind their treasures and entrusted them to the Commander and his Garrison to protect. To this end the Watch was formed and comprised originally of many of those who would not return to their homelands but preferred to spend their days here. The Watch was expanded slowly over time but their original remit remains - they are to stop the theft and smuggling of the heirlooms of Numenor. This was of course expanded to include common criminal investigation and other such civic lawkeeping as so many of those who refused to leave were prone to troublemaking. This was due in part to the dark times they had endured and also to the hopelessness and deep depression experienced by many."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Angrenost has always been a place for science and quiet study even before then."

An emerald-eyed male hobbit (Mavinero-Guest) says in Westron, his voice resembling that of Mavinero, in your head,
"One, will more exotic races be available as migrants to Angrenost over time? Or perhaps as RPP roles? Two, will there be a small area such as an encampment or caravan for non-Angrenostians to roleplay during the closed beta. Three, pre-existing clans from Gondor was mentioned earlier. How would one go about contacting some of the other clan members? The clan I as in fell apart at the damned seams towards the end, leaving a grevious mess, despite some folks' best efforts. Four, nevermind, as fellowship stuff is left to other staffers."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"That's about 14 questions."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Right, races. Yes more exotic races will be made more available as we support stuff. For now expect humans from different areas of course that are pretty close such as Eriador and old northland etc. But with the Branded you might also see the emergence of more questionable races if you will such as Harad etc Of course they don't migrate, they get captured."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Yes we will open a place for you guys to migrate within so you can log in, sort out yourselves, talk to eafch other etc. Thsi would be during the closed beta."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"You would contact your clan members using Hobbitmail as well as posting on the forums. I am also more than happy to advertise on your behalf on the newsletter."

A rotund, raven-haired female hobbit (Firesong-Guest) asks in Westron, singing a fiery song,
"1) I should probably be sorry for harping on this point, but being me I'm not. Frigga's answer to the armour question said that chain was the common armour except for the very high ranking and the very rich. Can we get a straight answer on whether plate is being cut, or whether money > canon? 2) Related to available goods, are other things (such as silks and the like; for some reason the idea of silk here makes me laugh) going to be restricted as well? It might be helpful to know what is widely available and what isn't. 3) What is the rule structure going to be like (not necessarily in detail, but in relation to what we players are used to)? Is this also moving more towards the freer structure that it sounds like the military is undergoing?"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"I don't want plate worn by anyone who isn't a senior officer in the army. I know that Alatar feels similarly. Only the Garrison will be allowed to be equipped for war anyway and they have something we call a uniform. I know that soldiers etc got used to knights, random semi military factions, wear what you want, etc, but we're old school. Sod anyone who wants to be a glorified military ranger clan or whatever - you can't. Hunters are the exception. So yes we will have plate but no don't expect to be able to wear it. Also the knowledge to make it and the time involved makes it very rare."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Game > bullshit for the record."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Goods that are rare in Angrenost will be rare in Angrenost. We are redoing all that stuff and making it sensible and "realistic" so that there is a reason for traders to come here and to leave here. What is widely available etc goes with the trade document I will make public soon."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"I don't know what you mean by rule structure. The military isn't going to a freer structure."

A rotund, raven-haired female hobbit (Firesong-Guest) says in Westron, singing a fiery song,
"Less rule intensive than the current setup was implied."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"I don't know what you are referring to."

Kite (Kite) asks in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Military? Watch? Game rules?"

A small, dusky-haired male hobbit (Cfelch-Guest) asks in Westron,
"Will there be any flora/fauna unique to the region?"

A rotund, raven-haired female hobbit clarifies, thus: It was implied regarding the military. The question I'm asking is whether the number of rules in general is going to be cut back... there are rules which half the players I would think don't know about. Like who knew it was illegal to run a tavern
until it came up?

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Hell yes!! We're going to be making this believable. So we will have giant polar bears, massive snow trolls, mountains that move etc."

A lithe river spirit (Legolin) says in Westron, in the low, thundering drawl of running water,
"Herbs and flowers are all being overhauled. so expect new and better defined stuff."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Hmm or I meant to say. hell yes. We are working hard to code support what a cold place SHOULD be like. Temperature, weather patterns, as well as flora and fauna that makes sense. i want people to find rare flowers and be scared of freezing nights."

A lithe river spirit (Legolin) says in Westron, in the low, thundering drawl of running water,
"Stuff with purpose."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Back to the clarification."

Kite (Kite) exclaims in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Oh my god the bloody military rules!!"

A rotund, raven-haired female hobbit (Firesong-Guest) exclaims in Westron, singing a fiery song,
"I don't care about the military rules right now, I'm asking about the other ones!"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"No way will we keep those crazy lists. We also won't have a forum where officers have to record everything everyone does. This is being stripped back. Soldiers don't fight together for a career here, they do it because they are Band of Brothers. This is about not NEEDING the rules, because they want to be together and fight together."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"As for all the other rules, yes I am doing my best to strip them back. We have a chance to actually write shit deown this time and not assume people know something. God knows i tried in the last place but this place us smaller. So yes, less is better. Everyone tell Frigga her laws and punishments list is too complicated."

A honey-haired, lithe female hobbit (Brian-Guest) asks in Westron,
"Is a meta narrative being planned for the opening of Angrenost? I know right now most attention is probably focused upon all the systematic stuff, the building, coding and all, but when it comes time for opening, does Staff have a plan of what's going on and why this area is suddenly important? Is there going to be a big, plot filled story that will start ticking along when it opens, that has direction and purpose and all?"

A lithe river spirit (Legolin) asks in Westron, in the low, thundering drawl of running water,
"You realize now you're asking for a Kite-novel right?"

A honey-haired, lithe female hobbit (Brian-Guest) says in Westron,
"I'm ok with that, I think it's an important question, even though it comes after all the codey buildy stuff."

A small, dusky-haired male hobbit (Cfelch-Guest) asks in Westron,
"I forget,, is religion even canon here?"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"The plans for the meta narrative began before Angrenost was even picked. As you know, I love writing but in the past we had such a large area we had to cover it was impossible to make stories really mean anything to players. Angrenost is not like that - it is enclosed and isolated and under threat. So yes, I know in my head what's going on and I've shared some of it and we have discussed it for some time. That said it is very important to me that we establish Angrenost first and how it is, how the people there are, how it all works, THEN we disrupt it before you lot arrive. Only recently I was giggling like a little girl at how much fun it can be if it's done right. With no second enemy sphere to contain, we become freer to direct the storylines in ways which are about people and the place, not just about huge events. I've been asked for that for years. Every NPC will have a background. Every place will have a story. Eventually. Unlike the worlds of video games and single player campaigns, we simply cannot address stories that are about one hero."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) asks in Westron,
"This science and learning stuff for masters, research work... do you have any idea how this will be manifested codedly, IG, or will we be like... pretending to be studying stuff? Make shit up?"

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron, sitting up for a moment,
"Objects, rooms, the weather, and a lot of other things, will have some descriptions for normal people, and extr descritpions for Sages and scholars. This will include subjects like astronomy, metalurgy, and biology."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) asks in Westron,
"That sounds AWESOME. But what about your master tailor?"

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"Like an expansion of what healers could see in the past. Sages will be able to see neat stuff."

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"Masters will be able to identify extra information in thier own area of expertise."

A lithe river spirit (Legolin) says in Westron, in the low, thundering drawl of running water,
"You'll make higher quality stuff that lasts longer is more intricate etc. quality matters."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"And while Huan is talking I should let you know that we are writing masses of new books, scrolls, papers, history pieces etc for IG. Me and Daer are too excited like little teenagers. Also player builders are helping with this sort of thing as far as they can."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) tells a lithe river spirit in Westron,
"I was asking more in the context of 'Masters are here to rediscover the lost lore.'."

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"Ah, well, that lore will be aprt of the obejcts, rooms, etc, so if you are skilled, you get a chnce to learn it. It will be 'real'. You need just to discover it, and there will be new commands to help with that."

A lithe river spirit (Legolin) says in Westron, in the low, thundering drawl of running water,
"Well i suspect through research a master tailor might find a better way to stitch or whatnot."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Plus we will invite high quality roleplayers to assist us by writing stuff for IG. Plus Masters can become Loremasters in an expansion. Not sure if Huan wants to talk about that."

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"Lore masters and fea and a lot of other things will come later."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) asks in Westron,
"Question 2: Are we going to have all sages have access to 'extra stuff' or will we have new subclasses of sages?"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Research and Sage support may well all come later. Depends on how much we get done."

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) says in Westron,
"As compared to all sages being experts on everything."

Kite (Kite) tells a stout male hobbit in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Sorry but that hasn't been worked out in enough detail to answer you honestly."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"BTW I fully expect to hold another one of these in a few weeks to answer more questions. But by then we'll have documentation up for you all to read."

Kite (Kite) asks in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"If we're done, I will call it a day. Any random questions from anyone?"

A stout male hobbit (Rivean-Guest) asks in Westron,
"What's RPP going to look like in SOI3?"

A small, dusky-haired male hobbit (Cfelch-Guest) asks in Westron,
"Will the cold north have religion?"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"RPP is being debated actually. I have a feeling it will be looking different. I may push that discussion back to the forefront of stuff."

Kite (Kite) exclaims in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Religion!"

A grey-eyed, ecru-haired male hobbit (Alexjones-Guest) says in Westron,
"Yeah, is there still going to be the no romance in the military rule, when the game returns? cos I feel having some romance can add some drama to the game."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"We're all very excited about religion. I found some stuff and then some people saw it and then they talked to each other. These people are our pureset and most expert Tolkien fanatics. Then Daer captained this and then he got unwell and RLd for the last few weeks. When he comes back we will send our findings to martinez to tell us what he thinks. I am very very keen to give SOI3 more of a real feel to it, and frankly without belief and religion in SOME form, it is hard to roleplay. Don't worry though, this is being handled by Tolkien nutcases."

Kite (Kite) exclaims in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Romance!"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Ok Romance. Hell yes to romance. Without romance what the hell are we? Couples are real, love is real, therefore romance is real. No rule against it."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Pregnant women will not be able to wear armour or patrol as life is very precious in Angrenost (unless you are not an Angrenostian of course)."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"If we are running out for now, that's fine, we can answer more in the next one."

A small, dusky-haired male hobbit (Cfelch-Guest) says in Westron,
"I remember some folks complaining about the bloated crafts lists... is this to become a non issue? at the end of the dday for any non combatent to progress, crafting needs be done, if anything i say we need more not less."

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Waiting to see if Huan wants this one."

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"Crafts will allow you a lot more individuality than in the past. They will serve a realitic purpose. Not just soemthing to keep you busy."

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"We will be adding mobs to crafts, and you can add persoalize strings to objects. In soem cases, there will be one craft, but it will use keywords, instead of individual vnums."

A small, dusky-haired male hobbit (Cfelch-Guest) asks in Westron,
"More of a pick and choose system then a craft for each possibility?"

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"Crafts will also allow you to improve the quality of a product, after you gain a little more skill."

An emerald-eyed male hobbit (Mavinero-Guest) asks in Westron, his voice resembling that of Mavinero, in your head,
"Did I also read somewhere that one craft could possibly use different kinds of materials for the same type of object being made, like woodcraft for example?"

A large basset hound (Huan) says in Westron,
"Mutiple materials for the same item will coem in an expansion. it is not palnned for BETA."

Kite (Kite) exclaims in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Right we're done. I am declaring this meeting over. We lasted 3 1/2 hours!"

Kite (Kite) says in Westron, sounding like Michael Caine,
"Thank you everyone."
